HOW/2: ERECTION VIEW ENHANCEMENTS

SDS/2 2017 has made enhancements to erection view detailing, including the ability to scale anchor bolt plans,
call out field bolts on erection views, and add/move moment symbols in Drawing Editor.

SCALE ANCHOR BOLT LAYOUT

To scale anchor bolt layouts, when detailing
erection views, select the anchor bolt layouts and
click Settings. Under the Annotations tab, turn on
Scale anchor bolt layout and specify a Scale factor:,
as shown in Figure 1. You can also set the default
options for this in Job or Fabricator Options > Detail
Erection View Defaults.

When SDS/2 details the view, the column and base

plate will be scaled using the Scale factor: specified.
Vertical brace members framing to the base plate
will be omitted and the dimensions are frozen to
display the correct value, as shown in Figure 3.

FIELD BOLTS ON ERECTION VIEWS

SDS/2 2017 has several methods to call out non-
standard field bolts on erection views; to define the
method, open Non-standard Field Bolts on Erection
View Details found in Job or Fabricator Options. The
top portion of this window allows you to define the
order in which different bolt criteria are called out
in a label on the erection view. Use the Label Format
to add spaces or other characters between criteria.
Each %s added to Label Format will be replaced with
the corresponding bolt criteria when added to the
erection view, as shown in Figure 4 on Page 2.

Figure 4: Non Standard Field Bolts Label Order

Define a symbol to be added to erection views based on the bolt diameter, bolt diameter and material, or bolt
diameter, material and type using the Match table. To do so, fill in the desired symbol in the Symbol column, then
specify the Diameter of bolt to be applied to and optionally the bolt material (A325) or material and type (A325N)
using the Type column. If only a Diameter is selected, SDS/2 will add the specified symbol regardless of bolt
material or type. Turn on the Qty check box to include the bolt quantity at each location under the symbol added
by SDS/2. The Quantity format: field works similarly to the previously mentioned Label Format field to give you
the ability to add any extra characters that may be required. SDS/2 will replace a %s entered here with the actual
bolt quantity, as shown in Figure 5. Object style: defines a multiline label, diamond shaped symbol or hexagonal
shaped symbol to be used.
