CRITICAL BOOK REPORT on time. We would like to say thanks to Rika
S.Pd,M.Hum as the lecturer who give us time and trust to finish this assignment.

In writing this Critical Book Report, we feel that there are many shortcomings
in technical and material writing, given our capabilities. For this reason, we

A. Information and Communications of Technology In Language Learning


(The main book)
 Computer as tools support ICT
Computer can utilized with other multimedia learning devices or it can stand
alone (a standard PC) and still serves its basic purpose as an electronic medium of
language learning
Computer is an electronic device which is capable of receiving information
(data) and performing a sequence of logical operations in accordance with a
predetermined but variable set of procedural instruction (program) to produce
results in the form of information or signals based on Oxford dictionary. It is
consist of CPU, monitor, kerboard and some other apparants.
B. Information and Communication Technology (Comparison book)
 A computer can be described as an electronic device, which
accepts accepts or collects data, processes them according to the given
instructions and produces the desired output.
The main functions of a computer system is to input data, process and store
data, and to produce information when needed. Several components are used for
such functions. The following is the function of a computer system.

DISCUSSION
3.1 Strength of The Book
 Tools Support ICT (Main Book)
- This Chapter is discussing about the tools support in ICT for
language learning, it contains some devices that we can use as
the support of learning progress
- This chapter is also relevant to the previous chapter, summarize
on the short explanation, and gives examples for the tools we
used on as the support on ICT. It is summarized on only one
subject and no exaggerated.
 Fundamentals of a computer system
- This chapter explains about the usage of the Computers on ICT
based on the purpose to support the Language learning. In this
chapter we will be able to understand that :
features of a computer,
classification of computers,
functions and devices of a computer system,
basic components of a computer,
computer ports and,
computer network.

3.2 Weakness of The Book


 Tools Support ICT (Main Book)
- Each subject is not be equipped with pictures that actually can
help readers to understand what is explained for each subject.
- The readers need more reference to help them understand what
is the writer explained. These references may help people able
to learn more about the devices mentioned in the chapters for
support tools on ICT.

 Fundamentals of a computer system
- This chapters only explain about computer as tools support on
ICT. It has no other devices explained and it’s only talked
about computers and it’s classification, also the history of
computers.

CLOSING
4.1 Summary
The chapters of these book explained about Devices used on ICT for
language learning as the support. These books have it’s own strengths and
weaknesses, but the explanation of the devices are both make the readers
understand easily.

4.2 Suggestions
We suggest the readers to read these books, especially both of chapters that
we have criticized (reviewed) because these chapters contains the complex
explanations about tools support on ICT escpesially Computers, History of
computers, classifications of computers, function of computers, and many more.
Fot the writer’s of the Main Book, we suggest to give more picture’s
references so that the readers can understand and not bored on the explanations
based on the chapters we reviewed.
