1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
1.1. Main feature and duties
The offshore supply vessel 2x2100HP with steel hull, welding structure, main deck
continuous from aft to fore, the wheel house and accommodation space to be located fore,
the machinery space to be located aft, fitted 02 main engines driven 02 controllable pitch
propellers in nozzles.
The vessel is designed to satisfy the technical requirements of offshore supply vessel
with the following tasks:
- Transport goods, equipment and supplies, spare parts, necessities and food,
dangerous goods placed in containers out drilling rigs.
- Transport diesel oil out drilling rigs, exploration rig and offshore storage vessels.
- Transport personnel out drilling rigs and other vessels.
- Tug vessels and barges carrying materials for the construction and installation of
drilling rigs.
- Support and service of fire-fighting, rescue marine.

1.2. Classification
The vessel is designed in accordance to the "Rules for the Classification and
Construction of Sea-going Steel Ships" (QCVN 21:2010/BGTVT) and “Rules for the
Survey and Construction of Steel Ships" ClassNK for offshore supply vessel operating at
un-restricted ocean going, international voyage.

2. MACHINERY
The design conditions for all machinery components and systems:
Maximum environmental temperature: Tmax = 40oC
Relative humidity: max = 85 %
Seawater temperature: Tn = 32oC

2.1.6. Shafting
There are two controlable pitch propellers shaft lines; the distance from center line
is 2400mm. Center line of shafts are parallel and higher than base line 1450 mm.

2.1.7. Propeller and nozzle
There are 02 controlable pitch propellers in nozzles.

2.1.8. Control main engine from wheelhouse
Main engine will be control either in engine room or in the wheelhouse. Controlled
equipment of main engine are supplied completely enclose with main engine, equipment of
electronic throttle/gear controller to be fitted to take the duty of changing speed, changing
direction of gear box, starting and stop the engine (normally and emergency).
Communication between wheelhouse and engine room will be carried out by mean
of bell, telephone, telegraph system and loud speaker.
2.2. Piping system
2.2.1. Fuel oil system

Working principle
Diesel oil storage tanks are filled through filling pipe led from main deck close up
to bottom of each tank. Diesel oil transfer pumps in the engine room shall be arranged to

transfer fuel oil from one compartment to another compartment fuel oil tanks and vice-versa
and from such tanks to diesel oil service tanks.
Diesel oil service tank will be supplied from diesel oil storage tanks by diesel oil
transfer pumps. Beside, diesel oil transfer pump also use for purpose of delivery fuel oil
from tanks to outside with international flange.
Fuel oil shall be delivered directly to main engine or diesel of generator set via
quick-closing valve attached to diesel oil service daily, filters, piping, …Oil return pipes
from each engine are independent each other.
Air vent pipes of all oil tanks are goose neck type with fire prevention head of 760
mm from main deck in distant.
Overflow pipe connects from diesel oil service tank to diesel oil storage tank.
Leaking and drained oil from tanks, flanges, filter, … to be collected in a dirty oil
tanks which shall be emptied by a hand bilge pump, through a overboard flange on main
deck. Quick-closing valve is remote operated type from outside of the engine room. Diesel
oil transfer pump must be stopped outside of the engine room.
Diesel oil service tank is to be attached the flat glass level gauge. Glass level gauge
must be approved type. Between glass level gauge and diesel oil service tank must be fitted
self closing valves.
Lubricating oil shall be delivered directly to main engine or diesel of generator set
via hand pump, horse, filters, piping...
There is one diesel oil service tank (V=400L) for emergency generator is arranged
in emergency generator room. The oil is enough for operating of emergency generator for 18
hours.

Working principle
Diesel oil supply pumps in the engine room shall be arranged to transfer diesel oil
from one compartment to another compartment fuel oil tanks and vice-versa and from such
tanks to diesel oil settling tanks. Beside, diesel oil supply pumps shall be arranged to
transfer diesel oil to other vessels through internatinal shore connection. Oil from other ship
or from port to tanks through international shore connections also.
Diesel oil supply tanks are connected to oil general pipe. Quick-closing valve is
attached on tanks in double bottom plan. Bell mounts with filter net are instlled in tanks.

Oil general pipe is connected to suction and discharge flange of pump. Therefore,
oil can filling to tank or transfer oil between tanks by open or shut suitable valve.

Working principle
Oil tray is installed at all position where can be have leak oil. Oil trays have
discharge valve and piping to lead to dirty oil tank.
Lubricating oil from oil sump tank will be led to waste oil tank by hand pump and
flexible piping.
Waste oil from other ship will be stored in imported bilge oil tank.
Waste oil from waste oil tanks transfer to receiver by sludge oil pump.
Waste oil pipe is steel pipe.

2.2.4. Cooling water system

Working principle
Cooling system of main engine:
Sea water pump sucks water from either sea chests then pump water to fresh water
cooler, oil cooler, gear box oil cooler and air cooler. After having exchanged heat, seawater
is forced overboard through non-return valve (approved type) fitted on shell. A pipe
connects from outlet water pipe to propeller shafting.
Fresh water in engine block is forced to circulate by fresh water pump driven by
main engine. Fresh water receives heat from cylinder liner, engine cover… and then is
cooled in the fresh water cooler.
In order to compensate for leaking water or vapor steam, fresh water shall be
inspected and filled directly into expansion tanks on engines.
Cooling system of generator set:
Generator diesel sets are cooled by indirect seawater cooling system too. The
principle is as similar as of main engine.

Sea chests are arranged in engine room. Sea chests are cleaned by water from fire
fighting system. Air escape of sea chests shall be led to the position of 760 mm above from
main deck.
Emergency generator sets are cooled by indirect seawater cooling system.
Sea water pump sucks water from either sea chest through non-return valve then
pump water to fresh water cooler and discharge to outboard.
Sea water pipe of this system in engine room ia isolated A60.

Working principle
Bilge water in engine room is deliveried to bilge tank by bilge water pump.
Bilge water from bilge tank is led to bilge water separator for treatment. Sludge oil
shall be led to slugde oil tank. Water with oil not exceed 15 ppm shall be discharged
outboard.
Preventing pollution system pipe is steel pipe.

Working principle
Bilge system
Bell mount and screw down stop check valve is installed for engine room,
workshop room, bow thruster room, steering gear room, corridor from engine room to
workshop room, and void space.

Mud box type angle and screw down stop check valve is installed for engine room,
corridor from engine room to steering gear room.
Bilge piping is connected to manifold in engine room. Screw down stop check valve
is installed on bilge pipe.
Bilge and fire and generator set pump are used for bilge duty. Suction pipe of these
pumps connected to manifold.
Fire pump is used to operate ejector for chain lockers and bow store.
Sea cooling water pump of main engine is used as emergency bilge pump.
Ballast system
Ballast water tank is ballasted by sea water and had treatment by water ballast
treatment equipment before discharge overboard.

Working principle
Fire and generator set pump and bilge pump, arranged in engine room, takes water
from sea chests then push to fire nozzles. On main deck has wash connection for washing
deck and anchor chain, seachest…
An isolating valve is installed on main water fire line for insolating fire nozzles in
engine room and other fire nozzles. This isolating valve be used when getting water from
outboard or other ship through international shore connections installed at port/starboard
side.

Working principle
CO2 room is arranged on main deck. CO2 cylinder are connected to manifold. CO2
control bottles used for release CO2 in case of CO2 fire fighting system is in operating.
Nozzles are arranged in engine room, CO2 control bottles, alarm button, stop button

2.2.11. Air conditioning system

Working principle
The system shall consist of one central unit and necessary air distributing.
Air conditioner system is used to serve accommodation area such as crew rooms,
office room, club…Temperature is about 24oC – 26oC. Humidity is about 50% - 60%.
2.2.12. Filling, sounding and air vet pipe
Air vent pipe
All tanks are arranged air vent pipe. The hight of air vent pipe head no lower than
760mm on main deck and no lower than 450mm on other decks.
The thickness of air vent pipe according to “Rules for the Classification and
Construction of Sea-going Steel Ships” (QCVN 21:2010/ BGTVT) and “Rules for the
Survey and Construction of Steel Ships" ClassNK
Air vent pipe head of oil tanks are wire net (approved type).
Air vent pipe head of sewage treatment is led to compass deck.
Air vent pipe head is self closing type (except air vent pipe of sea chest).
Filling, sounding pipe
All tanks are arranged filling, sounding pipe. Tanks are not hull structure shall be
arranged flat glass level gauge with self closing valve (approved type).
Pipe material accords to liquid in tanks.
All sounding heads shall be fitted with brass head caps with name plate for the
identification.
Sounding heads of tanks in bottom plan are equipped with self closing and check
valve.
Striking plate or other effective device shall be provided to protect the shell plating
under sounding pipe.

2.2.14. Sanitary water discharge system

Working principle
Discharges from toilet bowl, drain from basin and deck scuppers in toilet and
bathroom,... is led to sewage tank when the ship in restricted area. A sewage treatment plan
is fitted up to treated sewage. Capacity of sewage treatment is 42 persons per day.
Sewage pump is provided to discharge the sewage tanks when ship is ashore. One
standard flange is provided to connect to ashore receiving terminal.
2.2.15. Fresh water supply system

Working principle
Fresh water transfer pumps in the workshop room shall be arranged to transfer fresh
water from one compartment to another compartment and vice-versa and from such tanks to
international shore connections on main deck.
Fresh water generator makes fresh water from water in sea chest and fresh water has
taken to fresh water tank.

Working principle
Fire and generator set pump sucks water from either sea chest. Sea water shall be
mixed with oil clean material from hull structure detergent tank. The mixed liquid shall be
spary on the sea to treat oil.
