Hello, I was so happy to receive a letter from you. I had a pen pal when I was in 
middle school so this experience is bringing back great memories for me. I wanted to 
answer the questions that you had for me so I used them as the introduction sentence 
for each paragraph. I love your teacher Ms. Harris and she is awesome!!!! 
 
Where are you from?​ I was born in New Jersey where I lived for 9 years and then 
I moved to North Carolina, where I lived for 2 years. At the age of 11 I moved to 
California. I have lived here for 39 years. I live in Inglewood which is a suburb of 
Los Angeles. I live near close to where they are building the new stadium for the Los 
Angeles Rams. 
 
What is your career? I am an administrator in the Compton Unified School District 
Office of Special Education. I work with 14 schools in my district working with their 
special education teachers and students. I was a teacher for 15 years before I became 
an administrator. 
  
What made you want to be on that career? I became a teacher after my son was born 
over 18 years ago. I wanted to work with children. I went to school earned my 
teaching credential and then began teaching English at Dominguez High School in 
Compton, California. I love teaching and working with students. 
 
Can you tell me about your life on the mainland? I have two children a son who is 
18 and is a freshman at a community college and a daughter who is 16 and a 
junior in high school. In my spare time I love to cook for my family and friends, go 
to the movies, read books, travel, spend time outdoors and trying new things.
