Introduction

The article read explains how the Internet of Things (IoT) has revolutionized the

healthcare environment. If one were to compare healthcare before and after the emergence of

IoT, it would be very evident that there is a significant change. The technology described relates

so much with what exists in the healthcare facilities. The interconnection of systems or devices

via the internet, enabling free flow of data as seen in many medical facilities, has indeed

brought about a more efficient way of administering healthcare services. Fast responses to an

emergency, reliable data to enabling correct treatment of patients, among others, has helped

achieve this efficiency in hospitals (Li, 2015).

Internet of Things

Of all the technologies in the article, the availability of a patient's information is very

crucial. Many are times when a patient's health may deteriorate right after being attended to.

The condition may worsen without the nurse or caregiver knowing, resulting in a fatality or

late response, which may ultimately lead to death. This information has been indicated in the

article, and it is not far from the truth considering what is experienced at my place of work.

The information improves the response time as monitoring of the patient's condition is made

easier from different parts of the health center (Miranda, 2016).

The coming years seem to be very promising in terms of technology and healthcare.

One technique that I see coming would be a device that can monitor a patient's condition right

after being discharged. Some patients tend to be very ignorant of their health conditions. The

tool, possibly designed to look like a bracelet, could be handed to patients by the hospital or be

made available at an affordable price. If this device would be created, then it would help

hospitals reduce the fatality rate by stepping into these ignorant people's shoes. Technology is

not that intensive in many parts of the world, but the article describes what is there, I have

experienced it as a patient, but the Internet of Things must reach every corner of the earth.

Internet of Things is a beneficial technological invention. It has come in handy in every

aspect that it has been integrated into. What stands out the most is the way it has changed the

response time when a patient is in need. That single second could very well be the difference

between life and death. Synchronized data and its delivery together with geo-location and

presence have shortened the response time, and this could very well be a milestone in the road

to achieving better healthcare services.

Ghosting

Ghosting is when somebody suddenly ends a relationship between him or her with

another party. Reasons why a person might ghost, are; avoiding confrontation, avoiding

intimacy in personal relationships, narcissistic lifestyle, and the fear of being judged. Reasons

for ghosting can vary, there can be a good reason and wrong reasons which generally are due

to fear or selfishness. Ghosting can be due to security reasons, especially from social media,

where cyberbullying is very rampant, there is also the issue with stalkers (LeFebvre, 2019).

Times have changed; technology has taken a toll on this generation as much as it also

comes with its benefits. This generation, let us call it the 'microwave' generation, no longer

possess the art of patience. People always want thing instantly; instant fame, instant wealth,

and these are evident in social media sites. It is always about who has many likes on Facebook,

many followers on Instagram, Twitter, among many others. The youth of this time find it hard

to know what is essential, and even if they do, they do not understand the correct way of getting

it. Shortcuts are more preferred, and good ethics has lost its meaning in the current generation.

They want to be the first ones to follow a particular trend or to invent a given direction. All this

can be attributed to lack of patience; with patience comes a lot of knowledge, discernment, and

probably avoiding silly and catastrophic mistakes (Tripathi, 2017).

Deferred gratification relates to a situation when a person foresees an immediate reward

so that he or she can realize a better in the long run. Social media exposes people to lifestyles

that they are not used to seeing, and this creates an absolute pressure which drives people to

try and achieve what they see on these platforms. The mistake is that they do not know how all

these wealth and lifestyle they see in social media were gained; they only see the result. The

generation we live in also do not care about how the wealth was attained; they end up using

any means possible to achieve this wealth. To balance the repercussions and benefits of social

media, it is vital that people understand that everything they see is not real and at least get to

understand themselves before they try to be like somebody else.

Conclusion

Technology s great, IoT has brought positive changes to the world of healthcare. There

is also social media which has its benefits, but its disadvantages are destroying this generation

morose the young ones. Parents should guide their young ones towards the right path; educate

them on the effects of social media, control their use but should not take it away from them as

it would backfire. Parents should make these young ones feel loved and try and provide for

them so that they won't feel left out.
