“AN ANALYSIS ON TEST ITEMS MADE BY TEACHERS OF ISLAMIC

RELIGIOUS STUDY OF STATE ISLAMIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS IN


PANGKALPINANG MUNICIPALITY”

Abstract
The background of this study is based on the “Analysis on Test Items Made
by Teachers of Islamic Religious Study of State Islamic Elementary Schools in
Pangkalpinang Municipality”. Teachers’ competence in conducting evaluation to
the students is the most important competence. The evaluation process is regarded
as the input gained from the teaching and learning process, which can be used to
know the strength and the weakness of various components of the teaching
learning process. Generally, most of the teachers uses the test items from the text
books which sometimes mismatch with the characteristics of the students at their
schools. Moreover, the test items are used repeatedly that indicate the teacher
ignorance upon the principles of evaluation process.
This study employs a quantitative analysis approach with the focus is on the
Excel Program as a tool to measure the difficulty level and test items
discrimination on the students.
The result of the study shows the followings: 1) the quality of the test items
on the multiple choice test made by teachers of state Islamic elementary schools
in Pangkalpinang Municipality is already in good quality. Based on the quality,
very good qualified items can be saved in the test items bank with confidentiality
so that they can be used again in future tests, whereas the good or not so good
quality test items cannot be saved in the test items bank before they were revised
based on the correct indicators; 2) the difficulty level and test items discrimination
of religious study test on state Islamic elementary schools in Pangkalpinang
Municipality is regarded as having a high quality, so that it can be said to be valid.
The test is also said to have a high reliability because most of the test with high
reliability is constructed by the teachers. Therefore, the test item is considered as
good and can be used in the school examination. Also, the revised test item should
be reconstructed and dismissed items should be replaced with a new one.
