Course Description:
To enable students to treat other people well or better, meaning treating them normally, logically and according to the norms and values held in
the society. These objectives are supported by :
 Social Environment : to identify and understand the different kinds of culture in a country and between other countries, the different ways in
which the students will be able to realize the importance of being a member of a society and the role played by each individual, including the
contributions that they can make to their nation and country.
 Social Interactions : to empower their communication skills in differentiating the different types of communication; how to build up their
communication skills by eliminating prejudices and conflicts that may occur in every relationship and respecting the norms and values of other
people from different culture in order to build up good relationship with others which lead to everlasting friendship.

 Social Attitude and Behaviour : to build up the mutual respect and appreciation towards others by being honest and open, respecting others’
beliefs, having great social concern and being just in their actions.

General Instructional Objectives:


The detailed learning goals are given at each of the session. In general, by the end of this course you should be able to
1. Identify the different types of environments, from the smallest element to the biggest element.
2. Know and understand the different forms of marriages
3. Understand more about social pluralism and social integrity
4. Understand the importance of family, the role of each individual in the family and the function of family in life.
5. Differentiate between the similarities and differences of the many different cultures in a society.
6. Realize the important role of each individual and their contributions in the development of the nation & country.
7. Understand & act accordingly to one’s culture in terms of their values and norms.
8. Identify the prejudices & conflicts that may arise in a society and the solutions to each problem.
9. Know the importance of association & friendship, the value of friends and how to interact with one another.
10. Respect other people despite the differences that occur among them
11. Respect other people in terms of beliefs and being able to act justly in order to have fairness in their relationship with other people.

Teaching Learning Processes:


Lecturer : Explaining, discussing, giving exercises, giving assignments
Students : Listening, taking notes, discussions, role plays, presentations

Class Policy:
1. Attendance is counted starting from the first day of class.
2. A minimum of 90% of attendance is required. Excessive unexcused absences will harm your final grade. If a student misses a class for any
reasons, it is her/his responsibility to find out what was covered in that class.
3. If a student comes into class 5 minutes after the start of the class, s/he will be counted ‘absent’.
4. Students should take part actively in the F2F and online discussions , if any.
5. No request for a postponed test will be allowed unless the student is hospitalized and can submit an approved medical certificate.
6. Plagiarism is illegal. Any plagiarized papers/tests are considered ‘fail’.
7. Mobile phones should be turned off at all times during class.
8. All students should participate actively in class.
