habit of disciplined driving.

LICENCE TO DRIVE IS NOT A LICENCE TO KILL

With the increase in population, the volume of traffic is naturally increasing. Everybody seems to be in a hurry.
Due to overspeeding, there has been a great increase in accidents. People have now become less tolerant. They
lack self-discipline. A driver with a bigger vehicle takes it as a challenge if someone with a smaller one overtakes
him. In hot countries like India, people are prone to have a hot temper. And then there is another reason. There
are no stringent penalties for those who break the traffic rules. In the absence of severe penalties, people ignore
traffic rules at their will. The cure of each ill lies in removing the causes. Therefore, we should avoid road rage and
be disciplined motorists. We should know traffic rules and be courteous to fellow drivers. If we have an
appointment, we should start well in time. We shouldn't carry stress while driving.

CONSEQUENCES OF SEDENTARY LIFESTYLE

We are living in the machine age. We have made machines our slaves. We make machines do all the work for us.
We don't have to use our legs. There are machines to carry us. We don't have to use our hands. There are
machines to work for us. Thus Our lifestyle has become altogether sedentary. Whatever we eat adds to our
weight because we don't take proper exercise to digest it and convert it into energy. Adding to one's weight
invites such diseases as diabetes and heart problems. Thus there is an urgent need that people should be
educated about the consequences of sedentary lifestyle. Public parks should be provided where people can have
their morning or evening walk and also take some light exercise.

EFFECT OF POLLUTION ON MIGRATORY BIRDS

Environmental pollution affects birds and animals as much as man. Birds are the freest denizens of nature. They
leave a place at once if it poses any danger to their life. Thus how polluted or unsafe a place or region has
become, can at once be gauged from the number Of migratory birds that have stopped visiting it. The alarming
fall in their number, particularly in Northern India, is a danger signal that warns us to rise up to our duty of
keeping the environment free from pollution. We should grow more trees and keep the air free of smoke and
other poisonous fumes. Strict steps should be taken to enforce anti-pollution measures since men can't migrate
as fast and as easily as birds can.
