ESSAY AND REFLECTION OF HEBREWS 1:1-3

From the start of the letter, it shows that God is real and active, spoke to people at the past,
guided them in different ways and imparts them his teachings to the people through words and
events. He gave them his laws through prophets such as the ten commandments. He spoke to all
people that needed guidance and salvation, such as how God show himself as a burning bush to
Moses. God did not show what he really looks like, nor speak all the time, he is active and real but
only spoke to those he had chosen and through this people his words and guidance will be spread
to the people, thus a prophet is a symbol of a will of god because the words of god always pass
through from this prophets. In the start of the letter it also shows that god is active and choose to
speak around the time before Christ, thus, one can depict that the words that being spoken are the
teachings in the Book of Old Testament, which means it is 400 years early before the coming of
the son of god Jesus Christ.

In the second part of the letter it shows that the Messiah has come, the phrase “in these last
days he has spoken to us by his Son”, it means the words of gods is not being conveyed through
the prophets, but only to one being which is his son, and if one is familiar with the bible at the time
of New Testament, people is waiting for the Messiah that could guide them in the dark times, that
the Messiah will usher a new age to them, he will be their king and he will overcome all their
enemies. However, the people at that time does not understand the meaning of messiah. The
messiah that god bring to them is not the representation that the people at the time depicted. God
bring to them his son Jesus Christ. Thus, the time had come for Jesus to do his work on earth, the
phrase like “It is the Son who maintains all things in their proper place by his powerful word. The
Son gave his own life to make us clean from all our sins.” This means, even though in the past
God told people something about himself, but now he has spoken in Jesus. God shows us what he
really looks like through Jesus his son we now witness his image. Jesus became a human being in
order to show God to us this is what convey in the phrase “From the Son the honour of God shines
like a bright light. He is really God and he shows us what God is like.” Jesus is just like God and
so we can know God. What God had shown in the past prepared the way for Jesus and what he
would say and do, and after all the revelation came true, the Son of God Jesus Christ will return to
the side of the God and sat at his right hand in the kingdom of God, heaven.
