SYSTEM OVERVIEW
Each Catalyst 3RU or stage box enclosure is capable of providing up to (24)
twenty-four XLR inputs or outputs physically configured in (3) three modules
of (8) eight Neutrik XLR’s and (1) one Network Module. The 1RU enclosure
is capable of providing 8 XLR inputs or outputs configured in (1) one module
of (8) eight Neutrik XLR’s and (1) one Network Module.
Catalyst software allows you to route any input to any number of outputs. You
also have control of gain, peak metering, pad, line and phantom power for
each channel via PC or the Network Module’s LED screen and parameter
selection control. The system allows you to monitor dropped packets, which
represent lost information. You can also check the temperature of each box
on the network as well as call up or find any box on the network and change
its name or other parameters in real time or in a preprogramming scenario.
Other graphic interfaces allow monitoring and adjustment of channels in
single channel groups with full metering and an input and output graph for
quick channel input and output routing assignment with the click of a mouse.
The graph also gives a full system representation of all inputs routing to each
output.

ENCLOSURE OVERVIEW
Catalyst system enclosures are where the versatility of the system begins.
There is one rule to keep in mind with Catalyst enclosures. Each enclosure
must have at least (1) one Network Module. All rack mount enclosures
include an internal power supply, and all Stage Box enclosures require an
external power source via CAT5E or an external power supply. (Wall-wart)
1U RACK MOUNT
The 1U Rack Mount enclosure accommodates a single Network
Slave Module or Network Master Module and a single Analog Input
Module or Analog Output Module. The rack mount enclosures are
provided with a standard power cord. This provides the necessary
110-220 Volt AC input to the Network Module and input or output
module.

MODULE OVERVIEW
The Catalyst Network Modules provide all of the analog inputs and outputs as
well as the A/D D/A conversion, and Network Control via Ethernet. Modules
are available in three distinct types. Network, Analog Input and Analog
Output.
NETWORK MODULE
A network module is included in every enclosure type. Each
network module can control up to (24) twenty-four channels of
inputs or outputs. Always connect the CAT5E network to PORT A.
PORT B will be for network redundancy (not yet available).

The Analog Input Module provides (8) eight Neutrik female XLR
inputs, representing (8) eight channels on the network. The
Catalyst software allows several parameter control options for each
individual input. They include:
Selectable Line or Microphone level (the Line level is pre-
mic preamp, 0dB)
Channel input gain control variable from 10 to 40 dB, and
a 20 dB pad.
48-Volt Phantom power for each channel input.

available to route. An output module’s light will always be lit.
The Analog Output Module Provides (8) eight Neutrik Male XLR
outputs for the connection of the converted analog signals to be
connected to an analog mixer. While the outputs merely receive the
digital signal of each channel and its parameters and routing from
the network, it must still supply the critical D/A conversion at 24-bit
48K transfer rates.

OVERVIEW
The Catalyst system is to be configured in a star topology with all connection
pointing to an Ethernet switch. If you are powering stage boxes, the cabling
must route through the CAT-PS1 power supply then into the switch.
The Catalyst system can be wired to carry power on the CAT5E cable. This
is only required for stage boxes. All rack mount products include an internal
power supply and DO NOT require power on the CAT5E cable. The stage
boxes do not require power on the CAT5E cable. If no power supply is used
the use of the SPU-50 external power supply provided with the stage box will
be required.
POWER CONNECTIONS
Rack Mount
All Pro Co Catalyst rack mounted units come from the factory with an
internal 110-220 AC power supply and supplied cable.

CONFIGURATION
Every Catalyst input or output box must have an address on the network.
Every box on the Catalyst Network no matter whether it is receiving or
transmitting audio (input or output) must be recognizable by the Catalyst
Network and be set to a unique address. NO two boxes can have the same
IP address and be connected to the network at the same time.
IP ADDRESS
The IP address must be set to allow communication to external control
devices (PC). All systems are shipped using 192.168.1.LSB. The LSB
is incremented for each box shipped in the system. The LSB of the IP
address is shown on the display. If your address is set to 192.168.1.5,
the display will show “5 PROCO”.

Tx CHANNELS (TxCH)
The Tx channels set the number of audio channels to transmit.
Channels are transmitted in packets of eight channels. Therefore the
TxCH will increment by (8) eight. A maximum of (24) twenty-four
channels or (3) three packets can be transmitted. If the device has no
inputs then set the TxCH should be set to the off position.
Setting the address can be done prior to loading or running any PC control
software. It is recommended to set all the addresses in the system prior to
running PC software.

CHANNEL GROUPING
The channel grouping screen allows the grouping of only the outputs that
we are currently concerned with. The goal of this screen is to create a
correlation with the channel number on the mixing console (1-48) to the
output channel numbers. So, if phantom power is required on channel 23
on your mixing console, instead of having to remember or reference that
Catalyst output channel 4.12 is plugged into channel 23, we can simply
reference the channel grouping screen and apply phantom power. It is
also convenient for troubleshooting problems.
Add Channel Add channels to the current grouping from the available output
channels on the network.
Delete Channel Delete one or multiple channels from the current grouping.
Insert Channel Once a channel is deleted, use this button to insert a new channel in
its place. It is possible to insert more than one deleted channel at a
time, however they must be consecutive.
Group Options Group options allow you to reset a range of channels in the current
grouping to a specified default. Use with caution!!!
