Management Philosophy Plan

Engagement is a huge part of a classroom management plan. It is important to make

lessons and activities that are exciting and keeps all the students engaged. Having a management

plan in place will help ensure that your students are safe while in the classroom, but also

enjoying their time at school.

In my future classroom, I will take the first day and really teach my expectations to my

students. We will start by going over my class rules and consequences, which are:

Rules

1. Open Ears (Listen and follow directions)

2. Raise hands when wanting to share

3. Nice hands and feet (Keep them to ourselves)

4. Respect classmates, teachers, and other people throughout the building

5. Always try your best

Consequences

1. Warning (Verbal or silent gesture)

2. Time-out

3. Phone call home

4. Office referral
While we are going over these rules, I like to have the students add some of their own rules

that they would like to see in the classroom. By doing this, they feel as they have some

ownership while at school. Doing this on the first day, really teaches the students what I expect

out of them and what they should expect out of each other.

Creating a management plan will help my lessons and activities go smoothly, with little to no

interruptions. Once I teach the rules and consequences, I have to stay consistent with it. Keeping

the same plan in place every day, will keep the students actively engaged in that day’s lessons.

In order to meet the diverse needs of all my students, to teach effectively, and involve

families, I believe creating a teacher-student relationship is very important. Building

relationships between you and the student lets them know that you care about their success.

When students know what you expect from them and that they can trust you, they will more

likely behave in a way that is positive. For involving families, I believe that it is important to stay

in close communication at all times. When something happens, call home. Keeping them

informed will help the student come full circle with behavior problems. I will use a form of

communication that will allow me to stay in contact with all parents and families by giving them

updates of what is happening inside the classroom.
