Single plaited cable beanie

The other days I posted the stitch of the week”

Single plaited cable stitch”. I loved this stitch and I
wanted to use it in one of my projects. So I made this
beautiful beanies for my daughter.

The instructions bellow are for all sizes, from baby
to adult.

I used Stylecraft special DK yarn and a 4 mm crochet

hook.

For the baby size I used aprox 50 grams of yarn, so I

think that one sphere will be enough for all sizes.

I made the gauge with the stitch that I used for band
and I had 20 stitches and 14 rows for 4″ (10 cm).

The measurements for head circumference are:

For Baby 14″ (35.5 cm)

For toddler 16″ (40.5 cm)
For child 18″ (45.5 cm)
For women 21″ (53 cm)
For man 23″ (58 cm)

So let’s begin our band.

Chain 10 stitches

Row 1

1 single crochet in each 10 stitches

Row 2

1 half double crochet slip stitch in each stitch. Chain 1

and turn

From row 3 repeat row 2

 For baby until you have 48 rows
For toddler 56 rows
For child 64 rows
For women 72 rows
For man 80 rows

After your band is done, time to begin the beanie

body.

For the stitch pattern we will need a multiple of

8 but if you need to adjust your size you can
also make multiple of 9 for example, only that
you will have 2 make 3 single crochet between
plaited motifs.

Row 1

1 single crochet in each stitch, chain 1 and turn.

Row 2

Repeat row 1

Row 3

1 single crochet in second stitch. *1 front post double

crochet in the next 6 stitches. 1 single crochet in the
next 2 stitches.

Repeat from * to the end of the row, chain 1 and

turn.

Row 4
1 single crochet in each stitch. Chain 1 and turn.

Row 5

1 single crochet in the second stitch.

*Skip the next 2 stitches. 1 front post triple crochet

in the next 2 stitches. 1 front post triple crochet in
each of 2 stitches that you skipped, crossing them
trough the back of the 2 front post triple that you
just make. 1 front post double crochet in the next 2
stitches. 1 single crochet in the next 2.

Repeat from * to the end of the row.

Row 6

1 single crochet in each stitch. Chain 1 and turn.

Row 7

1 single crochet in second stitch

*1 front post double crochet in the next 2. Skip the

next 2, 1 front post triple crochet in the next 2. 1
front post triple crochet in the stitches that you skip,
crossing them trough the front of the 2 triple
crochet that you just made. 1 single crochet in he
next 2 stitches.

Repeat from * to the end of the row, finishing with 1

single crochet in the last stitch. Chain 1 and turn.

From row 8 we will repeat the rows 4,5,6 and 7:

For baby until we have 26 rows

For toddler until 28 rows
For child until 30 rows
For women 34 rows
For man, 40 rows

After we finished the body, time to sew on the back

and in the top of the beanie, then add a pom-pom
and that’s it.

If you don’t want to sew the back you can make a slip
stitch during work and working in rounds, but on the
right side and on the wrong side.
 Hope you like it, and now you have one more idea for
