showing the digestion process illustrated in tarpapel.

III. Developmental Activities


A. Pre-Activity

1. Song related to the topic.


2. Word Drill
Stomach Intestine Digestion Enzymes Foods
3. Review
What are the common muscle injuries?
What are the common bone injuries?
What particular body parts can be injured when you play games or sport?

4. Motivation/ Presentation
(Show pictures of a family/ people eating together.)

 What can you see in the picture?


 Why do we need food?
 What will happen if we will not eat for a day?
 What do we usually eat during breakfast? lunch? dinner?
 What do you think will happen to the food you have eaten as it gets inside
your mouth?
 Are the food you have eaten directly get inside the different parts of you
body?
 What happen if we do not have enough nutrients because we do not eat?

B. Exploration
1. Divide the class into 2 groups
2. Recall standard in conducting an activity
3. Distribute the materials and activity card to each group and let them do the activity.
4. Supervise the pupils work during the conduct of activity.

Activity 1: “How is food digested in the stomach?”


Activity 2: “How is food digested in the intestine?”

C. Explanation
1. Ask each group to present the results of their experiment.
2. Analysis, Discussion and abstraction of group output.
Ask:
 What is the function of stomach in relation to degistion?
 What about small intestine?
D. Elaboration
1. Let the learners answer questions on “Do this in LM”. Guide the pupils while they are
doing the activity.
a. List down names of foods that you usually eat in school?
b. What parts of the body change the food we eat before it will be absorbed by our
body cells?
c. What should be done to the food you eat before it can be used by the body for
growth?
d. How would you help your stomach and small intestine work properly?
2. Let the pupils share their answers.

E. Evaluation

Directions: write TRUE if the statement is correct, and FALSE if not correct.

1. The food we eat gives us energy to work and play.


2. The process by which food is broken down into nutrients is called digestion.
3. Stomach is the organ of our body where food goes and begins to be digested
after swallowing it.
4. Final digestion of nutrients takes place in the stomach.
5. Food stays in the stomach for ten hours until the food turns into a thick liquid.
