Catholic Christianity

Brief History
Christianity began in the 1st century AD after Jesus died as a Jewish sect in Judea
but quickly spread throughout the Roman empire. Despite early persecution of Christians,
it later became the state religion. In the Middle Ages it spread into Northern Europe and
Russia. During the Age of Exploration, Christianity expanded throughout the world; it is
currently the largest religion of the world.
The religion had schisms and theological disputes that had as result four main
branches: The Roman Catholic Church, the Eastern Orthodox churches, Oriental
Orthodoxy and Protestant churches. According to the Catholic tradition the history of the
Catholic Church begins with Jesus Christ and his teachings (c. 4 BC – c. AD 30) and the
Catholic Church is a continuation of the early Christian community established by the
Disciples of Jesus. The Church considers its bishops to be the successors to Jesus's
apostles and the Church's leader, the Bishop of Rome (also known as the Pope) to be
the sole successor to Saint Peter, who ministered in Rome in the first century AD, after
his appointment by Jesus as head of the church.
What defines good in Christian Catholicism
The belief in Jesus, because he is the son of God and savior of humanity capable
of saving us from eternal death therefore the very essence of good in the Christian
narrative. The Bible teaches that the concept or knowledge of good and evil came through
original sin. Many Bible verses affirm the Christian belief that, "God is good and His love
endures forever." (Psalm 100:5) Christianity believes in a benevolent God who created
the universe and all things in it…God's plan for creation is rooted in divine goodness.
Therefore, all that comes from God is good and he is incapable of doing evil for it is
contrary to his inherent nature. God’s Ten Commandments provide a moral compass —
an ethical standard to live by. The 10 Commandments include instructions to worship only
God, to honor one's parents, and to keep the sabbath day holy, as well aa prohibitions
against idolatry, blasphemy, murder, adultery, theft, dishonesty, and coveting. These are
summarized into 2 main commandments which is; to love God with all our hearts, mind
and soul, and to love others as ourselves. Therefore, the center of the concept of good is
love, for God is love, and he is incapable of doing evil.
What defines evil in Christian Catholicism
A main religious concept of evil is disobeying god. Sin started when Eve disobeyed
God for eating the forbidden fruit of knowledge and evil giving birth to evil and death to
this world. Evil is generally divided into categories of natural evil, such as natural
disasters, diseases or birth defects; and moral evil or human action that results in pain
and suffering for others, such as genocide, war, cruelty, exploitation and abuse. Many
Christians hold that moral evil stems from rebellion against God, which results in injustice,
vanity, pride, dishonesty, aggression, violence, greed and more. The belief in Adam and
Eve's original sin offers a widespread Christian explanation for how suffering and death
were introduced to the world through their disobedience to God. The concept of Evil of
Catholicism is the seven deadly sins or also known as the capital vices, or cardinal sins
it is a classification off vices within Christian teachings, although it doesn't appear
explicitly in the bible.
What to do in order to remedy sinful acts and prevent from becoming evil
For a person to become good and prevent himself/herself from being evil is to
follow the commandments of God or rules that govern a good person and refrain from
doing evil. Also, to prevent in becoming truly evil, one must first believe in the existence
of God, the father, the creator, his son Jesus Christ, the savior, and the Holy Spirit, the
mediator. If you seek God's protection, you will find that God has a good, free plan
presented in the Bible. God offers all the information you need to live a happy and
protected life. But we know there are many evils in the world. Evil has no fixed path. It
comes in any medium that best suits its purpose, and then it tries to lure everyone so
everyone could be turned into it. But no evil is ever stronger than God's will to overcome
it. Doing God's will bring the power to shield yourself and those you care about from evil
in your day-to-day life according to the Bible, and for eternity.
The Church’s involvement in Politics
The church has no visible relation to our constitution but it has such a huge
influence on people in a state for it to be ignored its power in politics and is derived from
a huge following. Its direct relationship to politics is mainly that most of the integrated laws
of man is referenced to the Divine Law which is written in the scriptures. The center of the
Catholic Church is the Vatican City, which is the smallest country in the world, hence, the
leader of the country is also the head of the Church which is the pope, the descendant of
Peter. The said leader governs the city (which is also a country), like every country, it also
a contributor of the globalism and/or globalization of the world.
In the world of politics, an example of the participation of the Catholic Church in
politics is its opinions and actions towards passing laws that may/may not be moral in the
Church’s teachings, and those bills that may contradict with the present law of the church.
