A Survey Research on Average Time Spent in Campus After Dismissal Time and

How it Affects their Academic Performances and Personal Life

Chapter 1: The Problem and its Background

Chapter 1.1: Introduction with Review on Related Literature

At present, students do a lot of things in school, sometimes it requires them to stay

inside the campus to accomplish this tasks. This tasks like, Class Performance Tasks,
training for sports events, and preparation for school activities, but improper time
management may affect the students’ performance in Academics or also to their
personal life.

Nasrullah & Khan (2015) stated that time management is very important and it may
actually affect the individual's overall performance and achievements. However, all of
these are related by how individuals manage their time to suit their daily living or to
make it flow steadily with their routines. Conducive settings and environment will surely
promote positive outcomes to the students, besides having good lectures given by their
teachers. Fazal (2012) added, to calculate the cumulative time spent working during a
week, these objects were also added. Time management practices have been proven
to be some of the top indicators toward achieving a high level of academic success and
performance. They not only influences on the achievement but using time management
techniques also serve only one reason meaning that there are multipurpose fulfilled by
time management. According to Mercanlioglu (2010) various group of students who
exploited time-saving proficiencies notably had rich academic achievement. They
accomplished those students who do not use time saving techniques in their
educational surrounding having significantly lower academic as compared to results
students who employ time- management tactics have considerably higher
achievement. Qureshi & Pathan & Khuwaja (2016) mentioned time management for
studies has been effective in making students' life easier by scheduling semester
activities i.e. class timings, submitting assignments on time, maintaining social
activities during studies, organizing time for study and exams, etc.

Sevari & Kandy (2011) stated that in developing countries where students have a lot
of issues during academic journey have a new story for the researcher to dig out much
more interesting results. Time management practices have an impact on the results of
students as empirical studies done by past researchers. In spite of knowing about the
impact of time on academic achievement, this relationship is not given importance
by the students. Burgess (2013) stated that each year secondary school pupils in
England will spend 714 hours at school, an increase of 79 hours from when they were
in primary education. The trend of English children spending less time in school when
younger than in other countries is reversed at the secondary education level. English
children spend more time in secondary school than many other nations.
Wayt (2012) stated students’ human relationships over which the university had the
least amount of control are the ones that students believe have the greatest influence
over their success in college. Kaushar (2013) also stated that at higher education level

the study schedule must properly planned, implemented and controlled for better
results. Emphasizing time also helps to develop cost effective educational policies by
the authorities especially at higher education level.

Faisal, Miqdadi, Abdulla & Mohammad (2014) stated taking part in proceedings and
being engaged in other outside class activities, not inevitably a job, but being energetic
in institution also has a strong correlation to reaching high academic achievements.
Various studies showed that time management practices serve for many purposes not
only for challenging performance of the students. Time management practices show
the way not only to a high level of academic performance, but to good physical
condition and lower levels of stress. The foremost purpose of the present study was
educational competency, using time managing techniques, test pressure, and test
proficiency.

Students nowadays tend to procrastinate when they have a Performance Task to

be submitted that results to poor outcome that lowers their Academics.

There are various topics at hand, but our goal is to find out the effect of
the school’s schedule and activities to students who are actively or inactively
participating to these events during and after class hours.

Research Questions:

1.) How often do the Bosconian stay in school after class hours?
2.) How do the students spend their time in school after class hours?
3.) How do staying in the campus after class hours affect the student’s
Academic Performance positively or negatively?

Chapter 1.3: Significance of the Study

The development of the study help’s identify students that are affected in
the school’s after school hours activities of the Grade 10 of the Junior Highschool
Department and the Senior Highschool Department . Also to help future researchers
who are aligned in this field.

Students - This research will help students to know more concepts on how they
can manage more their time.

Teachers - Provide them more information about how their students

manage their schoolwork and time. To be able to assist
them more efficiently.

Parents - To be able to understand the child’s reasons why they are being left in
school after class hours.

Chapter 2.1: Methods and Techniques of the Study

The research used a quantitative correlational method of research that will

be applied in the study. Price (2012) stated that a correlational research type of
non-experimental research in which the researcher measures two variables
and asseses the statistical relationship between them with little or
no effort to control extraneous variables. This research design is
used for/ because researchers cannot manipulate the independent
variables because it is impossible, impractical, or unethical.

Chapter 2.2: Research Instrument

The research used survey questionnaires to answer the problem of the

study. The Regents of the University of Michigan (2018) stated that a
questionnaire is a predefined series of questions used to collect
information from individuals, it is also one of the key features of a survey
research. This data collection method is used for/ because
questionnaires are cost-efficient, practical, speedy results, scalable, it has no
pressure, and cover all aspects of our topic.
