3 Dimentional figure
I. Definition
is the one object you can pick up, touch, and move around, have volume and the object can be
rotated in space. There are so many kind of 3 dimentional figure like polyhedron, cylinder,
sphere, and cone.
II. Properties
 Vertex/Vertices: a corner where three faces of a solid meet.

 Edge: two faces of a solid meet in a line.

 Face: Flat part of a solid.

 Face Diagonal: a line segment connecting one vertex to another (nonadjacent) in one
face.

 Space Diagonal: a line segment connecting one vertex to another (nonadjacent) in

different face.

III. Kind of 3D Figures:

 POLYHEDRON

Polyhedron is a space bounded by parts of intersecting part. The proportion of the plane
boundary of the polyhedron forms a polygon region called the side or face of the
polyhedron. Intersection of face planes in the forms of segments called polyhedron edge
and the intersection of the edges in the form of a point called vertex of polyhedron.

Kind of Polyhedron

1. CUBE
A. Definition of Cube

Cube is a solid with six congruent square faces with three meeting at
each vertex. The cube can also be called a regular hexahedron.

B. Properties of Cube
a. It has 6 faces. ABCD, BCGF, FGEH, ADHE, ABFE, EFGH.
b. It has 12 edges. AB, BC, CD, DA, BF, DG, DH, AE, EF, FG, GH, HE.
c. It has 8 vertices. A, B, C, D , E , F, G, H.
d. Each face has two face diagonals, for a total of 12 in the cube.
e. It has 4 space diagonals.

C. Nets of Cube

2. CUBOID

A. Definition of Cuboid
A cuboid is a 3D shape that are made from 6 rectangle faces and the corners or the
vertices are 90 degree angles. A cuboid that uses all square faces is a cube.
B. Properties of Cuboid
C. It has 6 faces. ABCD, BCGF, FGEH, ADHE, ABFE, EFGH.
D. It has 12 edges. AB, BC, CD, DA, BF, DG, DH, AE, EF, FG, GH, HE.
E. It has 8 vertices. A, B, C, D , E , F, G, H.
F. It has 12 face diagonals. AF, EB, AC, BD, BG, CF, DG, HC, AH, ED, EG, HF.
G. It has 4 space diagonals. AG, HB, EC, DF.

1. PRISM

A. Definition of Prism
Aprism is a polyhedron that has two faces that are parallelcalled bases, while all
the other faces are parallel to a line that intersects both parallel faces. The prism is
named by the shape of it’s base.

B. Properties of Prism
Bases: All prisms have two bases that are equal and parallel.
Lateral Sides: Lateral sides are the parallelograms that link 2 bases.
Height: Height is the distance between the tow bases.

C. Nets of Prism

D. Type of Prism
Irregulars: Prisms that have irregular polygons as bases.
Regular: Prisma has a regular polygon as a base

 Triangular Prism
A triangular prism is a prism composed of two bases and three rectangular
Sides and it’s a pentahedron. Why a triangular prism is a pentahedron? Because
Triangular prism has 5 faces.

 Pentagonal Prism
The pentagonal prism is a prism having two pentagonal bases and five
rectangular sides and it’s a heptahedron. Why a pentagonal prism is a
heptahedron? Because pentagonal prism has 7 faces.
 Hexagonal Prism
Hexagonal Prism is a prism composed of two hexagonal and six
rectangular sides and it’s an octahedron. Why a hexagonal prism is an octahedron?
Because hexagonal prism has 8 faces.

2. PYRAMID
A. Definition of Pyramid
Pyramid is building a space that has a large faceted shape and an upright plane in
the shape of a triangle where one corner meets at one point. This point is called the
pyramid peak.

B. Properties of Pyramid
1. Pyramid has one side of the base and has no top (lid).
2. The peak point and the base side corner point are connected by upright edge.
3. All the upright sides of the pyramid are triangular.

D. Type of Pyramid

 Triangular pyramid
The triangle is a pyramid that has a triangular shaped base. The shape of
the triangle can be an isosceles triangle, an equilateral triangle, a right triangle, or
an arbitrary triangle.

 Rectangular pyramid
Rectangular pyramid is one type of pyramid which have a rectangular
shaped base. The base can be square, rectangular, trapezoidal, rhombus, kite,
parallelogram and so on.

 Pentagon pyramid
The pentagon pyramid is one type of pyramid which has a pentagon
shaped base. The five facets can be regular pentagon or arbitrary pentagon.
 Hexagon pyramid

 CYLINDER
A. Definition of Cylinder
Cylinder is one of the most basic curved geometric shapes, with the
surface formed by the points at a fixed distance from a given line segment, known
as the axis of the cylinder. The shape can be thought of as a circular prism. Both
the surface and the solid shape created inside can be called a cylinder. The surface
area and the volume of a cylinder have been known since ancient times.

B. Properties of Cylinder

 It has one base side

 It has one top side

 It has one curve side

C. Net of Cylinder

 CONE

A. Definition of Cone
A cone is a solid that has a circular base and a a single vertex. An object that is
shaped like a cone is said to be 'conical'Properties of Cone

B. Properties of Cone
a. It has 2 faces. a circular face dan curved face
b. The diameter of the base plane or abbreviated by (d), which is the segment AB
in the cone image above.
c. The radius of the base plane is abbreviated by (r), namely the OA line & the
OB line segment on the cone image above.
d. Cone height or abbreviated (t), which is the distance between the cone peak
point towards the center of the base of the field, namely the CO line segment.
e. Next is the cone blanket, the side of the unshaded cone.
f. Then the painter's line (s), which is the lines on the cone-shaped blanket
drawn from the top or C to the point of the circle.

C. Net of Cone

 SPHERE
A. Definition of Sphere

Asphere is a three-dimensional space formed by a not until a radius of radius is

equal in length and centered on the same point.

B. Properties of Sphere
a. The ball only has one side
b. The ball has no ribs and vertices.
c. The ball also has a diameter.
d. The ball has 1 closed arch side.
