Stage 1: warm up discussion
Phase: 2 minutes
Interaction: T - SS
Procedure: T greets SS and asks them if they are ready to begin their lesson.
SS greet teacher.
T asks who is on duty and if there is anybody absent.
SS are ready to begin the English lesson

Procedure: T asks SS what their homework was and the T and SS check the homework
together.
Stage 4: Presentation
Objective 3 – use correctly “there is” and “it is”
Activity 1
Aim: to make the difference between the use of “there is” and “it is”
Phase: 10 minutes

Procedure: T writes some sentences on the board explaining the difference in meaning.
Possible problem: time management
Stage 5 – Practice
Objective 1 - use correctly “it” and “there”
Activity 1
Aim: to differentiate the usage of “it” and “there”
Phase: 6 minutes
Interaction: individual work
Aid: textbook
Procedure: SS have 5 minutes to solve exercise 6/page 103. T elects students to tell the
correct answer. If an answer is incorrect, the T discusses the issue with SS.
Possible problems: the correct use of prepositions
Activity 2
Aim: to use the prepositions of movement
Phase: 10 minutes

Interaction: SS – SS; SS- T
Aid: task sheet
Procedure: T divides the SS into 6 or 7 groups and gives each group a task sheet
containing two prepositions of movement. SS are given 4 minutes to think about miming
the preposition (using the toy and the box from the lead-in activity). Each group will
choose a representative who will come in the front and present the two actions. The
classmates who guess two actions will win a sticker.
Possible problem: time management
Stage 6 – Production
Objectives 4 and 2 to build a situation in which to use prepositions of movement
Activity 3
Aim: to build a route using prepositions of movement
Phase: 8 minutes
Interaction: group work
Aids: task sheet
Procedure: In the same 6/7 groups from stage no.4, each group will receive a task sheet
showing a mouse in a room full of different objects. SS have to create a route for the
mouse, to get to the cheese. The groups will present their routes. SS may use the words
from their notebooks or from the textbook.
Possible problems: the correct use in conversation of movement prepositions

In groups, discuss a possible way of miming the action using the box
and the toy, so that the class can guess the actions.

Build up a route (for the mouse) to the cheese, using different prepositions
