PREPARATION GUIDELINES

It’s a period of 4 years which everyone has to pass through to

make his dreams come true. Dream to become an engineer,
a doctor, a businessman, an economist and blabla. But on the
top of it, you have to get into some institute (probably the
best) to achieve purpose. However I’ll be focusing on HOW
TO GET INTO AN ENGINNERING UNIVERSITY here. The most
important that comes to one’s mind when he starts
preparing for ENTRANCE TESTS. All your endeavours will get
to fruition if you make best out of preparation and get into
any good university. Let me make one thing clear to you that
life isn’t going to be as easy as you have presumed after
getting into university and getting rid of loads of books and
notes of F.Sc. and Matric.

HOW TO PREPARE:
Coming to the main point of writing this article,
HOW TO PREPARE FOR ENTRANCE TEST. Be it an
entrance test of UET, FAST, NUST, GIKI, COMSAT,
and PIEAS.

 There is NO USE OF JOINING ACADEMIES for this purpose.

Rather than wasting your time and money there, your focal
point should be to make clear your concepts. Give up cramming
from the notes and books, give the topic a thorough read and
then list out the important points written in it.
 Entrance Test is not something that you can’t do that without
joining academy. Examiners won’t ask anything that you
haven’t read rather they will check how much deep you know
about the topic. A thorough reading of topics would be enough
for preparation.

 PHYSICS requires a complete understanding of book and

concepts. Application of formulae is mandatory.

 MATHS requires complete grasp on how to apply formulae on

different situations.

 CHEMISTRY requires Cramming (unfortunately) but you have

to if you want to get a good score in any test. Mostly, they ask
about formulae and applications. ORGANIC chemistry part gives
a hard time so be prepared for it. INORGANIC chemistry is
completely Cram so do it.

 ENGLISH: Don’t waste time on it. Mostly, they ask about

VOCAB questions. And you can only attempt those questions if
you have good store of vocab. You cannot build your vocab in a
day or two. However, you should know where to employ which
form of verb and at least a slight tinge on putting right verb or
word in blanks.
IQ questions depend on your IQ ability. The earlier you stand the
problem, the earlier you will attempt it.

WORK HARD AND SMART. Don’t be just like a

labourer doing his work and work and he doesn’t
know what he is doing. So, be smart and practical
towards your approach to different things.
STRATEGIES TO PERFROM WELL
Now, what strategy you should adopt while doing
Entrancetest.
During NET, Try to give more time to MATHS and PHYSICS
portion as they make most of the paper. 80 and 60 questions
respectively. Attempt ENGLISH and IQ on last.

BIT OF ADVICE
I got simple tips :
-Maths. Learn the formulas. Practice is required but
there are about 20-30% questions which can solved
by learning shortcuts or direct formulas .. In NET 20-
30% means saving a lot of time
-Chemistry.. cram the hell out of it.. ratta is required..
but dont waste much time on it..
-Physics.. clear your concepts and learn the
formulas.. no biggie, its easy..
-English.. learn the vocabulary words.. your
vocabulary should be vast and advanced to ace the
english part
-IQ.. practice a few questions, like 20-30 .. enough for
you to learn the pattern of the IQ related questions
FOCUS on the maths portion, dont hurry , even if you
spend like 30-45% of the alotted time on Maths
portion, dont worry.. then focus on physics..english
and chemistry does not take a lot of time.. IQ takes
some time but Maths portion takes the most time ..
NET isn't difficult but its diverse.. the thing I dont
like about NETs is that there is no pattern or
balance.. for example : when I gave NET2, most of
the questions were related to the CONICS chapter
but when I gave NET3 most of the questions were
related to iota and matrix..
And my chemistry marks were same 19/30 in NET2
and NET3.. i prepared for chemistry in NET3 but like
U can see , it didnt help me much.. focus on maths
and physics.. this should be enough

NET BEING HELD

"So start it off today and try to cover your bi-year

syllabus in two months. Divide your work and do it in
small portions. Like if you have 8 weeks, from today till
NET – 2, then you have ample time on your weekends
to prepare well for them. Instead of watching movies
and dramas, wasting time on Facebook, and WhatsApp
give more time to your studies now. I hope you all will
do best in your EXAMS and E-Tests too. We’ll try to
give you as much as we can and help you to solve your
queries well in time. Hope to see you soon at NUST.

NICE ARTICLE FOR ANY ENTRY TEST

How to Prepare for UET Entry Test
We are going to give you full tips for preparation of
University of Engineering & Technology UET entry
test. These will be helpful for other entry tests as well
like Nust entry test, PIEAS entry test etc. The easiest
test is UET test. Many of the good students cannot get
good scores because they do not know how to prepare
and attempt the Entry test.
You should know something about the test that until
the year 2007, UET Entry test was simple and was not
much conceptual, there were almost no dodging
(tricking) numerical (it was easy to guess the right
answer ). These were almost simple statements which
were given in the textbooks and hardworking and
talented students in those days could have scored 330
to 370 marks while an average student can obtain 260
to 330 marks. But after the year 2007, UET changes its
method of entry test. UET Entry test become
somewhat we call difficult and conceptual. Dodging
has been added. Now a talented student can get
roughly about 250 to 350 marks and an average one
can score about 200 to 220 marks.
But this remained till 2011 when UET’s test was leaked
and it was held twice. The pattern of entry test was
totally changed. It was as difficult as GIKI’s or NUST
test. Only 2 students crossed 300 marks line and only
43 from 250 marks line in 2011. You can read this post
to have an idea why this happened. But still there are
some general tips on Uet test. You will insa’Allah
succeed.
1. Divide time for your subjects like if you have 30 days
for the preparation you can give 6 days to each subject
(Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and English).
2. Most of the uet students says that if you have read
and understand concepts of textbooks then you can
get high marks. So read every line of your course book
and try to understand concept.
3. If you done this you have covered 75% of your
preparation. If you cannot memorize it then do this
step chapter wise complete one chapter and go to the
next step and after that come back to this step but
keep in mind that you have to give equal time to all the
chapters.
4. Do not read from entry test objective or preparation
books until you get through your textbook. Once you
completed the 3rd step take some practice MCQs or
objective type and check yourself, if you forget
something you can look into your textbook. Those
who have learn from their textbooks can go to the 3rd
step chapter wise also do this step chapter wise.
Pakprep.com MCQs are arranged chapter wise to
facilitate your practice in this manner.
5. Do this for every subject and keep practicing. On
NUST TEST DAY you should follow these
Guidelines:
(a)Divide time intelligently to attempt all the subjects.
Generally mathematics mcqs takes longest time,
followed by physics, chemistry and English. There are
30 MCQs of Mathematics, 30 of Chemistry, 30 of
Physics and 10 of English. Generally chmistThere are 4
marks of each correct MCQ and 1 negative mark for
wrong one.
(b) Do not get confused and concentrate on the
questions. Students who become nervous on test are
likely to lose marks unknowingly.
(c) Attempt all those questions which you can answers.
Skip those in which you are confused and could not get
to the answers.
(d) Once you are done with all those questions which
you fully understand, come to the rest ones and
concentrate on them, attempt them carefully. You can
also leave the MCQs unattempted if you want because
wrong answer has negative mark.
(e) Some people say that you should attempt those
question you cannot solve or don’t know about them.
In my opinion entry test is designed to filter out
students, to make you come out of the crowd of
students, so do not attempt those you don’t know.
Questions are tricky and negative marking can
significantly decrease your score in entry test.

IMPORTANT NOTE BY NET TOPPER:
As you have seen important chapters of all the
subjects. I am going toexplain about physics little more.
There will be about 85% statement based questions
and rest will be numerical type. Electricity portion is
most important, maximum MCQs will be from there.
Plus read everything in your FSc books, sometimes
lines of book are asked in NET. A level students should
also read FSc books. Good luck..
