Gymnosperms
General characteristics:
- have megaphylls
- no vessel elements
- gametophyte is dependent to sporophyte
- produce heterospores in cones or strobili
- endosporic gametophyte germination
- exhibit single fertilization only
- bear naked or exposed seeds that protect the embryo and contain stored food
