 How is global warming affecting your country?

Well in the winters are really cold and the summers are really hot. Also, we had floods a few years
ago and they were devastating.

 What is the carbon footprint?

It shows the pollute on that we as individuals are responsible for.

 Is your carbon footprint high or low?

Well, I think that my carbon footprint is low because I don't waste water. For example, when I'm
brushing my teeth I turn off the water to minimize my water usage. Also, when I come out of any
room in my house I turn off the lights to save electricity. And I go to school on foot and my parents
don't drive me to school.

 Where and when do you have floods or droughts in your country?

Well, we had floods back in 2015 I think, and they were devastating for parts of our country.

 What do you do to protect the environment?

Well, we can recycle and not throw trash on the streets. Also, we can save electricity by turning off
the lights when we leave a room. And some of us can walk to school instead of going with a car for
example.

 What products or materials do you recycle?

Well, we can recycle cardboard, paper, plastic bottle sand everything else made from plastic.

 1) What information in the texts surprises you? Why?

Well, that fact that Australians are wasting lots of water in the shower because of singing was really
funny to me.

 2) Do you think Australia has more serious environmental problems than your country?
Why?

Well, I think that Australia has more serious environmental problems than my country because my
country doesn't have droughts all the time and the rising sea level will not affect us as much as it's
going to affect Australia.

 3) Camels?

Well, Camels are becoming so thirsty that they are going mad. They are beginning to attack other
animals and destroy plants to get water. Australians imported camels from India in the 19th century.
Today, the total wild camel population is approximately one million, possibly the biggest in the
world.
 4) Sea Level?

Well, the sea level is going up in Australia and it will have a big impact on their cities and towns
because 80% of Australia's population lives near the coast.

 5) Bushfires?

In Australia, there are many fires called bushfires. They are common and dangerous. Some of
them begin by accident because of how hot it is but some are the result of arsonists, people
who start fires for fun. Some bushfires generate power of more than 100 atomic bombs and
create millions of tones of pollution.

Well maybe twice or three times a month. I mostly go to shop for clothes or to go eat.

I don’t go that often, mostly when we have a school trip I go.

Well I go once a year when I’m on the sea.

 When do you visit the indoor sports center?


I don’t. Ever.

 When do you go to a swimming pool.


I go a few times a week when it’s summer. But when it’s winter time I only go once a month
in a indoor swimming pool.

 Which is your favorite place to go at the weekend? Why?


My favorite place to go at the weekend is the mall, because I love to go shopping.

 Carpool - an arrangement between people to make a regular journey in a single


vehicle, typically with each person taking turns to drive the others.
Example : When one mom drives the whole neighbor hood to the school one week,
and the next week some different parent and etc. And also carpooling helps save
the environment because we produce less carbon dioxide.
 When is the last time you had to make an arrangement?
Well I had to make an arrangement yesterday because I was going to meet with my
friend to go get a coffee.

 What is important at arrangements?


It’s important to say when and were are two going to meat.

 Do you negotiate when you make some arrangements?


No. When it comes to my friends we already know when and where we are going to
meet.

 So what is Harry Macdonald telling us in his article?


Well, he is saying how recycling is so expensive and that instead of recycling we
should burn our trash and produce energy, because most people don’t even separate
plastic, paper etc.

 So do you agree with Harry Macdonald's viewpoint?


Well, I do because I think it is true that people don’t separate their trash. And the fact
that recycling is so expensive we could just burn everything and create a lot of
energy.

 And do you think recycling is a waste of time.


Well, personally I think recycling is a waste of time because so many people don’t
separate their trash and just dump it all at once

Sequence : Let me explain what I think. Firstly, I will tell you why we should all travel.

Contrast :I know that traveling is expensive. Nevertheless people should travel if they
have a chance.
