Abstract

Wetted-wall column or falling film absorbers is a chemical equipment that is utilized for mass and
heat transfer between two fluid phases particularly the gas and liquid phases. In this experiment, a liquid
is initially fed to the vertical column pipe and drained by opening the valve. Afterwards, water pump and
air compressor is turned on to produce a thin falling-film of water while minimum air flow is maintained.
When steady-state condition is attained, the dry and wet bulb temperature of the air is recorded as well
as the temperature of the water both at intake and discharge points. In conclusion, the mass transfer
coefficient of the small and big-diameter wetted wall column are 11146.8 lb/s-ft2 and 5717.3 lb/s-ft2,,
respectively.
