When it comes to the paranor-
mal research field, there is a
wide variety of different styles,
techniques, motives, and even
theories that each group and
organization exhibits. Some
groups are simply enthusiasts
and thrill seekers, looking for
their next experience, some are
interested in finding their cash
cow, while others are more
interested in understanding and
documenting claims and phe-
nomena in order to offer ad-
vancements in our current
knowledge of the working
world around us. The Paranor-
mal Study and Investigative
Research Organization, or PSI-
RO, is one of the groups that
hopes to offer more advance-

believe in paranormal phenom-
ena in one form or another, the
general consensus on the valid-
ity of paranormal research by
the scientific community is one
often one of abhorrence. These
emotions are not without just
cause.

same time, each claim must

thodically and as controlled as

paranormal research. It's one
thing to try to change the par-

another to state that you know
nothing and start all over from

of the beliefs of those that be-
lieve or disbelieve, claims of
paranormal phenomena are in

mal research, the only thing I gained was
more questions and a changed perspec-
tive of paranormal research as a whole.
With this newly founded realization of
my own ignorance, I created PSIRO, an
organization that is strictly dedicated to
scientifically advancing paranormal re-
search. The organization will take an
alternative approach to paranormal re-
search than that of its peers. Many groups
are simply trying to answer the question,
“Do ghosts exist?”, a question that is no
closer to being answered than it was a
century or two ago. Instead, PSIRO will
focus on answering questions that can
offer new avenues of thinking and under-
standing about our world and the un-
known world around us.

With the expansion of PSIRO, there are
now opportunities for membership within
the organization. After almost two years
of private study and structuring of the
entire organization, I am now opening the
doors to those interested in partaking in
the study of paranormal claims and phe-
nomena. PSIRO currently mandates that
all members wishing to take part in any
research based studies, either in the field
or laboratory, must undergo training set
forth by the organization. Training con-
sists of both field and classroom based
training and study. Quizzes and final
exams will be administered to assess the
knowledge and application skills of the
trainees. After successful completion of
the PSIRO training course, trainees will
be recognized and free to enter any de-
partment within PSIROs’ branch of
study.

The PSIRO training program is conduct-
ed like a college course. There will be
classroom discussions and lectures along
with required outside reading that may or
may not be discussed during training. A
course syllabus is given to each new
trainee prior to the training course, so all
requirements and assignments will be
listed, along with their respective due
dates. It is important to note that the
training course does not teach people how
to “hunt ghosts” or determine if a place is
haunted. The very notion of such training
negates the research and science that PSI-
RO wishes to employ. Trainees will learn
everything from the history of paranor-
mal research to identifying false positives
in data and how to correct them.
