Entrance Examination (NIFT Entrance Exam)

About NIFT Entrance Exam 2020

National Institute of Fashion Technology will conduct NIFT entrance exam 2020 in third week of January for admissions to Bachelor of Design and

Bachelor of Fashion Technology programmes across 16 NIFT campuses located in Gandhinagar, Bhopal, Jodhpur, Kangra, Kannur, Raebareli,

Shillong, Chennai, Bhubaneshwar, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Patna, Srinagar, Bengaluru and New Delhi. The application procedure is online

and the form will be available from third week of October. The admit card will be available in second week of January. Candidates should note that

the exam consists of creative ability test (CAT) for both B.Des and B.FTech while the general ability test (GAT) is only for B.Des. Qualifying

candidates for B.Des will have to further face a situation test before selection. NIFT also offers Masters in Design and Fashion Technology. The

exam structure for these courses are also similar to the ones offered at the undergraduate level. Around 23,000 aspirants take the NIFT entrance

exam for admissions to the undergraduate programmes - B.Des and B.FTech across the 16 NIFT campuses.

National Institute of Fashion Technology will declare NIFT B.Des 2020 final result in third week of May. The authorities will declare NIFT B.Des

2020 result in fourth week of March. The shortlisted candidates will have to take situation test, they will have to do the
slot booking for the same online from third week of March to first week of April. The slot booking will include
selection of date and centre.

NIFT Entrance Exam 2020 Eligibility Criteria

Age Requirement:

Applicants are required to be of 23 years as on October 1. However, NIFT will provide an age relaxation of five years for the candidates, who belong

to the reserved categories.

Educational Requirement:

Applicants must satisfy any one of the following criteria:

For B.Des. and B.FTech. admissions, applicants must have cleared class 12 from a recognised central or state board of secondary exam

(CBSE/State Board New Delhi/Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi. Additionally, B.FTech. candidates must

have Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.

Or

Passed class 12 examination from any public university, school or board from India or any foreign country that is

recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). B.FTech. applicants must have Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

Or

Passed in the Senior Secondary School Exam that is conducted by National Open School having a minimum of five subjects.

For B.FTech. Applicants, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics are mandatory.

Or

General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level/International Baccalaureate (IB)

Or

Diploma of three or four years recognised by a State Board of Technical Education or AICTE. B.FTech. applicants should have an engineering

diploma (any branch).

Important information regarding NIFT eligibility criteria 2020

Students, who will appear in the final year of qualifying examination, can also take NIFT 2020.

If the result of class 12/final semester/final year is still unannounced by the respective university/board till the NIFT admission procedure, then

such a candidate will be given provisional admission subject to these conditions:

The final result of the qualifying result should be presented before September 30, 2020.

Those students will be considered for provisional admission only who will appear for the compartment exam of class 12. It is mandatory to pass

the exam under the same board.

NIFT Entrance Exam B.F.Tech

The exam pattern of NIFT entrance exam 2020 for the Creative Ability Test namely CAT is not clearly specified

NIFT Entrance Exam 2020 Admit Card

The admit card of NIFT 2020 will be available in online mode in second week of January onwards. Only those
candidates can download NIFT 2020 admit card who will submit their application form correctly before the
last date.

How to download NIFT admit card 2020

1. The admit card is available in online mode only, and candidates have to log in to download it.

2. Any two of the following three fields have to be entered: Six digit application number Or Registered email ID OR Date of Birth (DOB)

3. They should click on the ‘Submit’ button.

4. Before downloading it, the details of candidature, exam centre, along with exam date and timings should be checked.

The NIFT admit card will display the details that are entered by the candidates in application form of NIFT 2020. They must take its printout for

future purposes. The admit card is not be sent via post.

The registration for NIFT counselling 2020 first round will start from last week of May to first week of June. There will be two more rounds of the

counselling procedure that will be conducted in June and July. Only qualified candidates will be required to attend the admission procedure as per

the schedule. The NIFT will verify their documents as well.

In 2018, as many as 2,370 (2010 B.Des. and 360 B.FTech.) seats were allotted across 16 NIFTs to the candidates.

NIFT Counselling Procedure 2020

Candidates will be required to register using the form number, DOB and password. A counselling campus has also to be selected from where

it’s convenient to participate in the admission procedure. A system generated SMS and an email will be sent to them after successful registration.

Candidates will be called for the NIFT 2020 counselling procedure solely on merit basis. They will have to select a seat in presence of the nodal

officer.

After the allocation of seat, the candidate will have to make payment of the full fee at the NIFT campus. The nodal officer will issue

him/her allotment letter/receipt.
