1. Improper solid waste management contaminates environment.
2. Unsegregated dumping of waste causes serious environmental damage.
3. Throwing and littering of waste is a serious environmental problem in Municipal limits.
4. The very existence of certain species is seriously endangered by environmental pollution through
improper solid waste management.
5. Over packaging, disposable/ use and throw products and use of plastic carry bags and one used
plastic bottles degrades environment.
6. Improper management of hazardous waste at domestic level and commercial level is another
dangerous environmental pollutant.

environment.

3. The leachate (chemical) flowing from the dumping yard contaminates surface water, ground water
and pollutes nearby wells, rivers and ponds.

D. Noise Pollution
1. The movement of waste carrying trucks make noise pollution.
2. The noise made by machines like shredding machine, backhoe etc. at landfill sites and community
composting plants make noise pollution.

1. Throwing waste leads to unsanitary conditions and clogging of drain which eventually resulting in
health hazards.
2. Improper management of solid waste is responsible for epidemic like Chikungunya, Dengue etc.
3. Rodents, animals and birds scavenging through waste dumps spread diseases.
4. People near waste dumps and landfills are suffering from respiratory problems, eye diseases and
water borne diseases.
