Evidence: The time is now

This evidence is divided into two parts: A composition and an audio file. Read the
instructions below and make sure you complete both tasks.

A. Answer the questions below. Use the examples as models of the grammar and
vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why didn’t you study English before? (List at least 5 reasons in a

composition.)

Example:

One of the reasons why I didn’t study English before it is because I thought it
was too difficult. I didn’t understand my English teacher at school and that
was frustrating.
 One of the reasons I did not study English before is because my
teachers were not very good and I honestly did not have time to practice
it, another reason I always thought it was very difficult, another reason I
only saw one hour per week of English, and finally I did not get almost
attention.

2. How different would things be if you had learned English before? (Name and
explain at least 5 things.)

Example:

If I had learned English some years ago I would have accepted a job a
multinational company offered me five years ago. One of the requirements
was to speak English and my level back then was very low.

If I had learned English before, I would most likely have been watching
all my English assessments, I always liked the games if I had learned
English before, it would have been much easier to play them, if I had
learned English. I could watch series in English that I wanted to watch, if
I had learned it before I could have seen movies in English, if I knew
how to speak English it would have made it much easier for me to do
ICFES this year.

B. Record an audio file of yourself answering the following questions. Use the
examples as models of the grammar and vocabulary you have to use.

1. Why are you studying English? (List and explain at least 4 reasons.)

Example:

I’m studying English because I finally decided that if I want to improve my

professional profile becoming bilingual is essential.

2. In what ways are you going to benefit from this learning?

Example:
Being competent in English is going to increase the opportunities of landing a more
satisfying and better-paid job. We live in an international open market and English
is the most important language.

Solution:

1. Currently I decided to study English because in my school I am required 6 levels

of English, also because I think it is a good option to learn English because in the
future we will not know when we will need it, I consider that I currently like English.

2. Because this increases my chances of performing better in this area, it would

also open more doors and possibilities for a better future, because I consider that it
improves my profile as a person because I consider that it would facilitate me at
some time that I would like to travel.
