Day 15:
Chemical Injection Pump
It is the assembly of different Mechanical and Instrumentation components and a pneumatic pump
that uses for chemical injection in multi-phase crude oil. Here we are injecting Demulsifire to
break emulsion between oil and water.
Specifications of Chemical injection Package
1. Company =Check point pumps & systems
2. Pump model=P-1250
3. Pump type =Plunger
4. Stroke control = Manual
5. Drive Mechanism=Air Driven
6. Stroke per mint. = 5~105
7. Pump operating supply =35~40 psi
8. Max.Discharge pressure = 1500 psi
9. Max.flow rate =63.5 L/D
Components
1. Suction line block valve.
2. Air/Gas supply block valve.
3. Calibration gauge(cylinder) block valve
4. Calibration cylinder
5. Tank (Reservoir)
6. Level gauge
7. Y-Strainer
8. Pneumatic chemical pump
9. Air supply Regulator
10. Air filter
11. Pulsation(vibration)Dampener
12. PSV
13. NRV
14. Pressure Gauge (air supply line)
15. Pressure Gauge (Discharge line)
16. Electric Flow meter

Day 16:
Gas rate calculations
Q =C (hw*pf) ^1/2
C = Orifice Flow Constant
hw = Differential Pressure in inches of water column at 60F
pf =Absolute Static Pressure in PSI
C=Fb* Fr* Y *Fpb *Ftb* Ftf* Fg *Fpv *Fm *Fa *Fl
1. Fb = Basic Orifice factor
2. Fr=Reynold Number Factor
3. Y= Expansion Factor
4. Fpb= Pressure Base factor
5. Ftb= Temperature Base Factor
6. Ftf = Flowing Temperature Factor
7. Fg = Specific Gravity Factor
8. Fpv = Super Compressibility Factor
9. Fm = Manometer Factor
10. Fa = Orifice Thermal Expansion Factor
11. Fl = Gauge Location Factor

Day 17, 18, 19, 20:

Storage Tanks
The crude from accumulator moves toward the storage tanks on gravity basis in terrace 2 where
12 storage tanks are available and each one have 500bbls capacity. In storage tanks there give
some time for settling the crude and remove the water on gravity basis.
Dispatching Area
Dispatching area is also called Gantry point where bowser fill with crude and is also situated in
terrace 3. There is also a laboratory where we do BS&W test of crude, Chloride test, Salt test
and Reid Vapors pressure test. The pumps which are available at terrace 3 are used for both
purposes loading and decanting.
Terrace 3
1. In terrace 3, dispatching of bowser is done. There are following steps which
the personnel of MPCL are following

2. Security office
3. Inspection
4. Filling the bowser compartment
5. Checking the dip
6. Specific gravity and temperature reading
7. Sealing the bowser valves
8. Gate pass Procedures:
9. When the bowser reaches terrace 3 gate, the first step is to take all things which are
hazardous for filling area like lighter, cigarette etc. in security office.
10. During the entry of bowser, check the brakes and hand-brake of the bowser.
11. When the bowser reaches the Gantry point then further inspection starts like investigate all
things which is mentioned in bowser/tank safety check list of MPCL.
12. After the inspection, loading arm put into the first compartment of bowser and start to fill
bowser.
13. Fill the bowser compartment until it reaches the dip depth of compartment which is
mentioned in calibration chart of bowser.
14. In similar way, fill the second compartment of bowser.
15. When the bowser fills then take the specific gravity of crude oil and temperature.
16. With the help of hydrometer and graduation cylinder we measure the specific gravity and
with the help of digital thermos-meter measure the temperature in Celsius.
17. Check the dip depth, specific gravity and temperature to the driver.
18. When everything is done, put eight seals in the valves of the bowser.
19. With we help of formula, measure the API gravity of crude oil.
20. Put the API gravity, specific gravity and temperature into the computer software, it gives
the correction volume factor. Multiply this correction factor the storage capacity of the
bowser, it gives the crude oil in litters and then by conversion factor, convert it into barrels.
21. Fill the form and give it to the driver and also fill the gate pass for the driver.
