WHEELER, TRACEE JAN B.

NSTP-SECTION 1

As I’ve learned in the first clip, culture is a representation of what society is feeds
us. Regardless of what or where people grew up with: family, school, community or any
certain group of individuals. Secondly, there are different aspects that seems every
culture differentiates from one another. These are the aspects that makes a particular
culture “unique” and functions differently as well. It is important that people have a skill of
better understanding- like what I’ve mentioned earlier, we have a diverse culture. It is
imperative for us to be aware that there a lot of things that may go against our cultural
belief and we have to accept it.
In the second clip, it focuses about art, and what is this for. For me, art is skill that
everyone has, it may vary from a particular individual that makes them special in their
own way. Art is for people who wants to express his/her oneself, it is a tool for executing
our innate art talent and showcase our culture as well.
"We need to use our voices in a way that our voices are not being used." -- Activist
and art dealer, Roland Augustine, talks about why art matters and how it can help us
understand our collective history. Personally, Mr. Augustine presented his talk in a very
artistic manner, his statement were really on point and justified as he talks about art and
it’s importance towards expressing our mind.
Arts and Culture is important factor of us as a Filipino. It holds our identity and
history, that makes as known and different from others. We have a lot of benefits that we
can get from arts and knowing our culture. Primarily, people will have a knowledge and
understanding why our society functions as this, why people acts the way they were today
and mostly we’ll get better understanding of our history. Also, I agree from the one
statement in the video. Art serves as a revenue or medium that youngsters can use to
express themselves in a purposeful and a good way.
Fascination, the right word to commend the Nat. Museum in preserving our art and
heritage. We owe them our art, culture and history for taking care our “real” treasure and
that makes our country wealthy.
It is great to see that there are still Filipino artists that makes their subject that
represents Filipino culture and artistry. I like how they want to be known as Filipino artist
that makes a very Filipino art. And I hope some of our artist do the same thing as Mr.
Barrioquinto does. It’s just very proud moment as I’ve first read the article about his arts.
