Monday to Friday
Teaching Dates & Time 10:45 am – 11:45am Quarter 1

1. Decribe the the event within the Earth that give rise to mountain ranges, volcanoes, earthquake belts, and other features of the
Earth’s surface.

I. OBJECTIVES
The learners demonstrate an understanding of the relationship among the locations of volcanoes, earthquake
A. Content Standard epicenter epicenters, and mountain ranges.

B. Performance Standard The learners shall be able to demonstrate ways to ensure disaster preparedness during earthquake, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions.

C. Learning Competencies/Objectives (
Write the LC code for each) Describe the distribution of active volcanoes, earthquake epicenters, and major mountain belts. (SPOES-Ia-j-36.1)
II. CONTENT Plate Tectonics

IV. PROCEDURES

a. Ask the students the following question.

1. What is the relationship among the locations of volcanoes, earthquake epicenters, and mountain ranges.

b. Assess students’ prior knowledge by giving pre-assessment test

A. ENGAGE

What is Plate Tectonics?

a. Present Figure 1. Kinds of crust

b. Ask the students to describe the figure. They should come up with the idea that crust are of two kinds: the
B. EXPLORE
thicker but less dense continental crust and the oceanic crust which is relatively thinner but denser than
continental crust.
Questions:
1. What are the two types of crust?
2. How do they differ from each other?

C. EXPLAIN  Present figure 2. “Map of Plate boundaries” and allow the students to make a model of the plate boundaries.
 Review the three types of seismic waves; Primary (P-waves), Secondary (S-waves), and Long surface waves (L-waves).
 Students will explain earthquake as a consequence of moving crustal plates.

D. ELABORATE

Present a video about the topic.

 Deepening of the lesson.

E. EVALUATE 1-2 Layers of earth’s lithosphere

3-4 Kinds of crus
5. Define plates
6. Define tectonics
7-9 Types of seismic waves
10. Define earthquake
F. EXTEND
Describe the different plate boundaries.

V. REMARKS

VI. REFLECTION
A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the
evaluation
B. No. of learners who require additional
activities for remediation
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No.of
learners who have caught up the lesson
D. No. of learners who continue to require
remediation
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked
well? Why did these work?
F. What difficulties di I encounter which my
principal or supervisor can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials did I
wish to share with other?
