Handling of Li-ion battery

New ciaz is fitted with Li-ion battery. Li-ion battery is a hazardous item, hence this battery is to be handled
with care.
Actions to be taken while replacing the Li-ion battery
1. FTIR must be raised for all Li-ion battery replacement (Within warranty / Customer payment
cases/out of warranty/ Insurance/Goodwill/Extended warranty etc cases).
2. Check sheet is to be filled and to be attached with FTIR. Check sheet is attached.
3. All Li-Ion batteries (in warranty or out of warranty or customer payment) are required to be sent
back to MSIL factory.
4. “Serial Number” of the old and new battery (as shown in picture) have to be punched in DMS
(DMS screen shot is attached).

Pre-cautions to be taken while handling Li-ion battery is given below,

Dos
1. Insulate old Li-ion battery connector points and the positive terminal of the battery with electrical
insulation materials after removing the battery from vehicle.
2. Place the old Li-ion battery in OEM packaging (which has been taken out from new Li-ion battery).
3. Keep the old Li-ion battery box in a dry place with low levels of humidity and ambient temperature
range of -20oC to 60oC at all times.
4. Ensure minimum ground clearance for the old Li-ion battery box in order to avoid physical damages.
5. Keep the old Li-ion battery away from conducting material at all times.
6. Keep the old Li-ion battery away from any sources of fire and explosives.
7. Old Li-ion Batteries are to be transported from dealership to MSIL through recommended courier
service and road transport only
Don’ts
1. Do not keep the connector points and the positive terminal of the old Li-ion battery open after
removing it from vehicle.
2. Do not keep old Li-ion battery in open space and direct sunlight.
3. Do not keep old Li-ion Battery at height or stack them over one another.
4. Do not keep heavy weight on old Li-ion battery/packaging.
5. Do not keep the old Li-ion battery near water or liquid sources of any kind.
6. Avoid impact on old Li-ion Battery box which can damage Li-ion battery pack. If cells within the
battery pack gets pierced or punctured, it may lead to fire accident.
7. Do not dismantle the old Li-ion Battery.
