PHOTO ESSAY ASSIGNMENT & RUBRIC

Objective: Students will visually represent and analyze one of four themes represented in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Then,
students will apply the theme to three other sources to represent the universality of thematic statements and connect the novel with more familiar
sources.

Format: Students must create a slideshow using Power Point or Prezi with 5 +3 photos. Each photo will include an analysis of how the photo
represents the theme of the novel in addition, how that representation is portrayed in the novel. How is the theme represented in the photo and
then how is that aspect represented in the novel? Also, students will be required to share THREE additional sources (movie, novel, TV show,
video game, song, poem, etc.) that shares the same thematic statement. How is the theme represented in other works and how does that also
represent the novel? (Like we did for Animal Farm) Please refer to the rubric as well as the sample power point.
