Importing & Digitization Materials

The importing of data is the automated or semi-automated input and

output of data sets between different software applications. It involves
"translating" from the format used in one application into that used by
another, where such translation is accomplished automatically via machine
processes, such as transcoding, data transformation, and others. True imports
of data often contain data in raw formats otherwise unreadable to end-users
without the user interface that was designed to render it.
Digitization is the process of converting information into a digital (i.e.
computer-readable) format, in which the information is organized into bits.
The result is the representation of an object, image, sound, document or signal
(usually an analog signal) by generating a series of numbers that describe a
discrete set of its points or samples. The result is called digital representation.

Editing
Editing is the process of selecting and preparing written, visual, audible,
and film media used to convey information. The editing process can involve
correction, condensation, organization, and many other modifications
performed with an intention of producing a correct, consistent, accurate and
complete work. The editing process often begins with the author's idea for the
work itself, continuing as a collaboration between the author and the editor as
the work is created. Editing can involve creative skills, human relations and a
precise set of methods.
Rendering
Rendering is the process involved in the generation of a two-dimensional or
three-dimensional image from a model by means of application programs.
Rendering is mostly used in architectural designs, video games, and animated
movies, simulators, TV special effects and design visualization. The techniques
and features used vary according to the project. Rendering helps increase
efficiency and reduce cost in design.

Output
In a personal computer application, to output is to convert a file into
another format than the one it is currently in. Once the file is exported to the
desired format (specified in its file name suffix), it can be opened and worked on
by an application that recognizes and uses this format. Adobe Photoshop and
other programs use this term. Other applications such as Word let you output a
file by simply specifying the appropriate file name suffix when you use the "Save
as" selection. A file that has not been exported to a desired file format can
be imported by an application program and then opened and used.

File Management
File management is the data that we work with on computers is kept in a
hierarchical file system in which directories have files and subdirectories
beneath them. Although we use the computer operating system to keep our
image data organized, how we name files and folders, how we arrange these
nested folders, and how we handle the files in these folders are the fundamental
aspects of file management. The operating system's organization of our data can
be enhanced by the use of cataloging programs, which make organizing and
finding image files easier than simply relying on the computer's directory
structure. Another feature of catalog programs is that they can streamline
backup procedures for better file protection.
