1. In terms of history, how do you definite the contemporary? How is it different from the
“traditional” or “modern”?

A. Contemporary art is a free art media; “Art of Today” artists work in a globally influenced,
culturally diverse, and technologically advancing world. You can build, paint or even craft it the
way you want; you also have freedom to choose a subject from anything to anyone

2. Explain the meaning of contemporary art: collaborative, integrative, and process-oriented.


How do this mediums and technique differentiate contemporary arts from the “traditional” and
“modern”.

A. In terms of mediums, Modern art have painting and sculpting, it started 19th and early-to-mid
20th century art. Works produced during this time showcase artists’ interest in re-imagining,
reinterpreting, and even rejecting traditional aesthetic values of preceding styles.
In traditional art traditional art could really be anything not digitally generated. So painting,
drawing, sculpture, print making, and coloring crayons could be considered forms of traditional
art, but in contemporary it’s answers the questions: how you use, how you created and what is
created

3. Contemporary artists do not always use new media, such as installations and mixed media.
What makes them “contemporary” anyway? Explain your answers through historical, stylistic,
and cultural overviews.

A. Strictly speaking, the term "contemporary art" refers to art made and produced by artists
living today. Today's artists work in and respond to a global environment that is culturally
diverse, technologically advancing, and multifaceted. Working in a wide range of mediums,
contemporary artists often reflect and comment on modern-day society.

4. Can you think of other artist whose techniques may be traditional but can also be considered
contemporary?

One of the most acclaimed artists to emerge from postwar Asia, Takashi Murakami—
“the Warhol of Japan”—is known for his contemporary synthesis of fine art and popular culture,
particularly his use of a boldly graphic and colorful anime and manga cartoon style his a
contemporary artist but his works are reflected to the Japanese culture.
5a. If you have access to the internet, search for Lourd de Veyra’s Word of the Lourd (WOTL)
series. Is it an example of Contemporary Art? Why and Why not? Your output can be a blog
entry (either in your existing blog or one you will create), a video similar in format to WOTL, or
like the exercise above, a live production.

A. Lourd de Veyra’s word of the word is an example of contemporary arts. Because in his TV
Shows, he shows there and let us learn about the life of people before and he tackled about how
the world and the people live in the past centuries. On how the people are living before this
generation.

Lourd de Veyra’s Word of the Lourd became popular to the youth nowadays and also to the
whole world because of de Veyra’s lots of achievements in life and having a good and powerful
show in this generation. In his videos, de Veyra’s presents his perspectives on the current social
issues, like the; Independent Film Industry, Philippine Sports, The Death of Apple Founder,
Steve Jobs and Unique Filipino Traits. And “Word of the Lourd” is also series of short clips
from TV5 that poke fun at our culture, the media and so ever else that can be poked. The
segments also show the host’s social and political commentaries delivered in deadpan humor.
And talks about the current issues and gives lot of comments about it that travel wildly in the
social media.
