3.2. Test serie 6a): Test on transmission of the detonation in single packages
Threetransmissiontestswereperformedwith eachtype of shapedcharges.A packagewith shaped
chargeswasput on a witnessplate (steelsheetof 3 mm thickness)andconfined.The detonation
was effectedby a standarddetonatorNo.8 insertedinto oneofthe shapedcharges(donor).
4. Results
4.1. Test serie 4b)(ii): Twelve meter drop test for packed articles
The plywood boxes(outerpackaging)were slightly damaged.The inner packagingresp.the
tibreboardfolding boxesandplasticsfoam partsincluding the shapedchargesremained
undamaged.All testedshapedchargesdid not showanyreaction.
Result:The shapedcharges,typesSM-EOD20 and SM-EOD 33 performedthe requirementsof
the UN -Recommendations.
4.2. Test serie 6a): Test on transmission of tbe detonation in single packages
SM-EOD 20: The donorwasplacedin the upperinner packaging.All shapedchargesin the inner
packagingcontainingthe donordetonatedby mass.The shapedchargesin two inner packagings
next to the donor deflagratedpartially. The shapedchargesin the both remaininginner packagings
did not showany reaction.The witnessplatesbelow the packagesremainedundamaged.
Result:The shapedchargesSM-EOD 20 do not meetthe conditionsfür the division 1.1.
The tests were carried out in accordancewith the UN-Recommendations "Transport of Dangerous
Goods, Manual ofTests and Criteria", 3. Revised edition from 1999:
- Test serie 4 (b)(ii): Twelve meter drop test for articles
- Test serie 6a): Test on transmission ofthe detonation in single packages
- Test serie 6c): External fire test.
The SM-EOD 20 are packed in tibreboard folding boxes (inner packaging), each containing 10
shaped charges.The outer packaging (plywood boxes) contains 5 inner packagings according to
the packing instruction P 137 and the special packing instruction pp 70.
The SM-EOD 33 and 33P are packed in plastics foam parts with dividing partitions (inner
packagings), each containing 10 shapedcharges.The outer packaging (plywood boxes) contains 3
plastics foam parts according to the packing instruction P 137 and the special packing instruction
PP 70.
For details ofthe packagings refer to the drawings No. PZ 103 325 000.01, PZ 103 204 000.02
and PZ 108 408 000.00.
3. Test procedures
The shapedcharges SM-EOD 20 and SM-EOD 33 were tested within the scope ofthe following
investigations. The type SM-EOD 33P was not tested, becauseit has a similar construction as the
type SM-EOD 33 and contains less explosive substance.The shapedcharges SM-EOD 33P are
packed in the same way as the shapedcharges SM-EOD 33.
3.1. Test serie 4b)(ii): Twelve meter drop test tor packed articles
Three drop tests were perfornled with each type of shapedchargesin the following drop
orientations:
. flat on the bottom of the boxes
. flat on the short side of the boxes
. on the corner of the boxes.

5. Conclusions
. The shapedchargesSM-EOD 20 and SM-EOD33 passedthe twelve meterdrop tests(test serie
4b (ii)) without anyreaction.
. The test on transmissionofthe detonationin singlepackage(testserie6a)performedwith the
shapedchargesSM-EOD 20 and SM-EOD 33 did not meetthe requirementsfor the division
1.1.
. The externatfile test (testserie6c) perfomledwith the shapedchargesSM-EOD20 and SM-
EOD 33 did not showanyreaction.
