VALSPAR CHAMPIONSHIP

The tournament was founded seventeen years ago in 2000 as the Tampa Bay Classic,
and was originally an alternate event in autumn and late summer. It was opposite
the Presidents Cup in October 2000, and the same week as the WGC-American Express
Championship in September 2002. It was scheduled for the same week as the WGC-
American Express Championship in 2001 in mid-September, but the September 11
attacks (on Tuesday) forced the cancellations of both tournaments.

From 2003 to 2006, the Tampa Bay event had a slot in the schedule to itself in late
October (and early November in 2003) as the last full-field event before the Tour
Championship. The Chrysler Corporation was the title sponsor.

Since 2007, the Tampa Bay event has been played in March, as the Players
Championship moved six weeks later, to mid-May. For a time, the tournament was
without a title sponsor, leading to speculation on its fate beyond 2007. Then, on January
24, 2007, tournament officials and the PGA Tour announced a six-year sponsorship
agreement with PODS of Clearwater, Florida. However, the company chose to exercise
an option to withdraw as title sponsor after the 2008 event, and tournament officials
searched to find a replacement.[ On June 4, 2008, Transitions Optical, Inc.,
the photochromic lens manufacturer headquartered locally in Largo, was announced as
the new title sponsor. Transitions left the event after the 2012 season. Just two weeks
before the 2013 tournament, EverBank agreed to be presenting sponsor for the
tournament. In September 2013, Valspar Corporation signed a four-year deal to become
title sponsor of the event, now named the Valspar Championship. On March 9, 2016,
the PGA Tour, Valspar Corporation, and Copperhead Charities – the Valspar
Championship host organization – announced a three-year title sponsorship extension,
thus carrying Valspar’s commitment to the tournament through 2020. This extension
occurred in the midst of the original contract period, which was from 2013 to 2017.

Only two players have multiple wins in the event: K. J. Choi (2002, 2006) and Retief
Goosen (2003, 2009). Goosen is the tournament's leading money winner, with over $2
million in earnings. Vijay Singh set the tournament record in 2004 with 266 (−18) and
won by five strokes.

TAYLOR SWIFT REVEALS NEW ALBUM 'REPUTATION' COMING IN NOV.,

FIRST SINGLE OUT THURSDAY
8/23/2017 by Joe Lynch

It's really happening. After the long wait and numerous snake-related teases, Taylor
Swift has confirmed her new album, Reputation, is coming Nov. 10. But fans won't have
to wait that long to hear new music from the pop queen – the first single drops Thursday
(Aug. 24).

Swift also revealed the album cover art(shot by Mert & Marcus) for her sixth album via
Instagram on Wednesday (Aug. 23).

Even though it's been nearly three years since Swift's 1989 -- which won the Album of
the Year Grammy -- she hasn't been a stranger to the charts. Her 2016 Zayn duet "I Don't
Want to Live Forever" from Fifty Shades Darker peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot
100, just one spot shy of becoming her fifth No. 1. But with anticipation building for a
new Taylor Swift single since she wiped her social media accounts last Friday (Aug. 18),
could this new single become her next No. 1 -- potentially unseating the historic No. 1
run of "Despacito" from Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber? We'll have to wait
and see.

One thing is for sure: Swift is a blockbuster force. 2014's 1989, her fourth No. 1 album,
became the fastest album to hit 5 million units since Usher's 2004 LP Confessions. In its
first week alone, it moved 1.287 units, and her 1989 World Tour netted $185.4 million.
It produced three Hot 100 chart-toppers -- "Bad Blood," "Blank Space" and "Shake It Off"
-- and when it debuted on Spotify in June 2016, it did massive numbers. It's sold 6.06
million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music, and was the best-selling album in
America for 2014 (and 2015's second best-selling album, behind Adele's 25).
