ASSK Security Letter Campaign

Dear brothers and sisters, International Foundation for Burma National Congress (IFBNC)
has sent a letter regarding the security concern of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi to the President
of the United States, United States Senators and United States House of Representatives.
IFBNC requests all of you, who live in the U.S, to write a letter to your U.S Senators and
U.S House of Representatives. You can compose yourself or feel free to use our sample
letters and feel free to change anything you want. Sample letters is as follow: We also
request all of you, who live in out side of the U.S, to write a letter regarding security
concern of DASSK to your government and a head of the State. We deeply concern

Dear Mr. President:

AP, Reuters, and Washington Post are all reporting that the release of Aung San Suu Kyi is
set to occur in a matter of days, if not hours. This historic moment would not have been
possible without your support for Suu Kyi. We’d like to express our sincere gratitude for
your tireless efforts to secure her freedom. As my colleagues and I join the rest of the
world in welcoming her back, we’re also prompted to raise questions about her safety and
security.

Suu Kyi is no stranger to political sabotage; her own father, General Aung San, was a
victim of it. As it has been shown in the previous assault on her motorcade in 2003, the
military rulers of Burma have no qualms about using violent, criminal means, including
attempted assassination, to silence her. In this infamous incident, now known as the
Depayin massacre, she narrowly escaped her father’s tragic fate.

Such unrelenting persecution would have discouraged many others, but not Suu Kyi. Her
heroism and defiance won’t permit her to back down. Once released, she’ll become a
fierce critic of injustice, putting her at odds with the newly empowered government. With
many of her strongest allies still in prison and her own party in disarray, The Lady is
practically defenseless, and her position in post-election Burma more precarious than ever.

We feel that a public visit from a high-ranking U.S. official to Suu Kyi upon her release will
go a long way to show that you and your administration are in solidarity with her.
Therefore, we humbly submit the idea for your consideration.

For the people of Burma, The Lady remains their sole hope for Democracy. We hope to
rely on you and your administration to safeguard her so she can shepherd the country to
its true destiny.
