Course Description: This course covers the basic concepts and fundamental laws of electrical circuit theory; analysis and
applications of series, parallel and series-parallel resistive circuits; mesh and nodal analysis; network
theorems; characteristics of inductors and capacitors; analysis of RL, RC, and RLC circuits with DC
excitation.

Course Learning Outcomes: At the end of this course, the students should be able to:

1. Describe the basic electrical quantities, system of units, engineering notation, metric prefixes and
unit conversions.
2. Analyze circuits using appropriate formulas, solving for voltage, resistant, current and power values.
3. Identify and design series, parallel, and series-parallel circuits
4. Analyze and solve networks using Superposition theorem, Thevenin and Norton theorem, Maximum
Power Transfer, Source Transformation and Delta-Wye conversions
5. Describe and solve the branch, mesh and node analysis using substitution method and the
determinant method.
6. Describe and identify the characteristic of capacitors and inductors.

laboratory exercise. Otherwise, if there is valid reason, the student will be allowed to perform
the laboratory exercise and to submit the laboratory report a week thereafter.
15. Absence during the mid-term, or final examination without valid reason means zero for that
particular examination. Otherwise, if there is valid reason, a special examination may be given
upon mutual agreement of the student and professor as to the schedule of said special
examination.
