INSTRUCTIONAL GAMES –
Increases motivation by adding
game rules and/or competition to
learning activities to drill.
Benefits of Instructional Games:
1. Games are more interesting that
traditional instruction.
2. Retention of information is
longer.
3. Assist teachers to get students to
focus on the topic.
4. Make learning more engaging
and motivation.
Last is PROBLEM-SOLVING
SOFTWARE.
E. Generalization
- What are the types of Instructional
software? Are they important in
Teaching and Learning Process and
give me at least one example of each
type. Types and Importance of
Instructional Software
1. Tutorial Software -
Provides all information
and instructional activities
a learner needs to master
a topic, information,
summaries, explanation,
practice routine, feedback
and assessment.
Example: Youtube Videos
that teaches to do
something.
3. Simulation Software -
Shows how those systems
or similar ones work or
demonstrate underlying
concept.
Example: Hill Climb,
Speedracing.
4. Instructional Games -
Increases motivation by
adding game rules and/or
competition to learning
activities to drill.
Example: Online Chess
5. Problem-Solving
Software - Helps learner
acquire problem-solving
skills by giving them
opportunities to solve
problem.
Example: Online Riddles
F. Application
Mechanics of the Activity:
1. I will give an application to
every group. (Written on a
paper)
2. They will identify what type of
Instructional Software it is.
3. They will choose two and
show/explain the purpose of the
application. (The usages of the
application are written in the
paper.)
IV. EVALUATION
Test I. Alternate Response (20 points)
Direction: Write ‘DEFINITELY’ if the first and second statements are true
otherwise ‘NOT SURE’ if one of the statements is true and the other is false.
Write your answer before the number.

1. Search 10 applications that will assist teaching and learning process.
2. Categorize each applications either it is Instructional Software or not.
