  Radiator cleaning method _

rev0.5, June 2016, MHI

Purpose
1. Radiator must be cleaned periodically because the dirty material, sand, debris, grease and lub oil
can easily accumulate on the surface of radiator.

2. Genset operation with dirty radiator can lead to the overheating and cause the bearing and/or metal
seizure. And finally gensets can not operate because of serious damage.

Cleaning method
1. Clean the radiator fin by pressurized air to remove the loose debris.

2. Spray the detergent on the surface of radiator fin to dissolve the dirty material, grease and lub oil.
When you chose the detergent, be careful not to attack the radiator fin material (copper or aluminum).
Dishwasher detergent is recomennded.

3. Clean the radiator fin by pressurized steam from both front face and back face.
Front face(opposite direction of radiator air flow) -> Back face(same direction of radiator air flow)
-> Front face - - - - is the most effective procedure to clean the radiator fin.
Excessive pressurized steam (over 0.28MPa) and pressurized water should be avoided
to prevent the fin damage.

4. Clean all surface of radiator fin UNITL YOU CAN SEE THE LIGHT FROM THE OTHER SIDE.
If the dirty material remains, the radiator performance can be decreased and it leads to the overheating.

5. Radiator cleaning interval is recommended as every 250 hours, same as the lub oil change interval.
