Stop when gear shifting from first to second gear

This service bulletin gives recommendations when investigating situations where the driver complains that he can't
manage to change from first to second gear before the vehicle stops, when driving up steep inclines or in cases of very
high rolling resistance. Typical vehicle specifications for this type of complaint are those with drive on 4x4, 6x4, 6x6 and
8x4, when driving in extreme conditions. In other words, this recommendation is not suggested when driving under
normal conditions with drive on 4x2, 6x2 and 8x2.

Action
Replacement of complete synchronization first to second gears.

Kit part no. 20907441 to be ordered from Volvo Parts and containing all parts to be exchanged (marked grey between
brackets).

Note: The detent pins and springs must be installed in the gear.

Note: The kit shall not be taken apart for assembly but mounted directly onto the main shaft.

(In cases where the parts of the kit have become separated, it is extremely important that the instructions for
assembly of the synchronisation are followed step by step.
SB43629-NODE19-opno Gearbox, remove Op.no. 43170-1, see IMPACT, Func.grp: 4311.
SB43629-NODE21-opno Gearbox, install Op.no. 43172-1, see IMPACT, Func.grp: 4311.
