DONATING USED BOOKS TO LIBRARY

Introduction
Donating used books is a good habit instead to sell for onions, where it is useful to
everyone who are interested in studies like reading novels, stories, education etc. If we donate
used books in library, it helps to students who are interested of reading books.

India is stream rolling her way into development, but illiteracy continues to plague a
large section of the people in India.

However, in the recent times many children have shown the urge to learn, to be
educated and started attending schools. Despite being able to attend school these children are
unable to afford academic books due to high prices of the books.

Often the libraries of these educational institutions lack quality educational and
informative books. This deters students from reading and acquiring adequate knowledge on
different subjects.

Many NGOs have special requirements of books (e.g. for training purposes) which they
find difficult to get – while there may be people who have such books to donate. Ensuring that
each book donated is read by at least one more person, if not many more, before it may end up
as waste. Public libraries, reading rooms, old people’s homes, public hospitals…are some
examples of places where magazines, light reading material, etc. is always needed

Working days:
I have donated a few books to Library having count of 35. These are very helpful to them
to know more about history, facts, spiritual, general knowledge etc. This makes the librarians
so happy for giving books to them. They told that this will helpful to the children who comes
to the library every week and mostly they ask story books and motivational types.
The books that I have donated are: Visual dictionary, Vivekananda life story (in both
English and Telegu), 11th and 12th grade textbooks and workbooks, Top 10 of 2018, Books
related to Meditation and Yoga, Mechanical textbooks of engineering and some other books.

I have spent nearly 38 hours in this project. In that nearly 27 hours I spent for collecting
Books near our house, most of them are encouraged and some regretted to give. I have collected
23 books from them having different stuff in it.

Benefits of Donating Books

If you have shelves filled with books that you have already read and are not likely to use
in the future, there's no reason to let them sit there and gather dust. Once you are finished with
a book, it can certainly be put to good use by a charitable organization or any Library.

Donation of used Books can help nonprofits reduce operating expenses. After all, many
nonprofits provide services that require various types of books. Without donations, funds
would have to be allocated to purchasing reading materials. When people donate used books,
the organizations can utilize available funds for other purposes

Examples of places that may be happy to allow you to donate used books include:

Schools: Most public and private schools will be happy to accept donations of books that are
appropriate for the age and reading levels of their students. They can utilize used books and it
can be used to stock the library, provide supplemental reading materials for teachers and
students use.

Libraries: Every Libraries will happy to accept donating books which are very helpful to them
and the people who reads in there.

Sharing Experiences

Book donations are one of the best ways to give. Books open the door for new
opportunities and learning experiences to those who would otherwise not have those
experiences.

Obtaining books from non-local donors does not directly promote sustainability. Book
donations can, however, be helpful to support a new library, and to build library collections
with materials appropriate to the library users, but unavailable locally. In the spirit of doing no
harm, assess the local availability of publications and publishers and the potential for local
publishing.

The organization whose mission is to support, motivate and inspire children in crisis
situations to read through individualized access to books and other materials geared toward
increasing literacy skills while also providing them with a healthy emotional outlet to stress.
These organization regularly serving children and teens up to age 18 who are in physical,
economical, emotional, or mental health crisis situations. They mostly live in homeless shelters,
safe houses, or residential treatment facilities, but have little or no access to books of their
interest and reading abilities. The ability to exchange lets them explore other authors and genres
without a commitment; and, it keeps their personal library fresh and age appropriate.

Apart from textbooks and encyclopedias, we can use all types of books for children and young
adults.
