• Teaching Experience Includes:
Learning Environment – Through building positive relationships and a student-centered classroom, I
work to create a learning environment where my students feel safe and valued.
Student Engagement – My lessons are structured to ensure engagement from beginning to end of
the class period. Through starter/warm up problems, a mini lesson, learning activities, and exit slips,
students can expect to be challenged, use problem solving and critical thinking skills, and to collaborate
with their peers often during a class period.
At Risk Population – Aldridge’s student body is 30% low income and has 40 different languages
represented by students, for whom English is a second language.
Special Education – I work with 20 students who have a variety of special needs. I ensure that all
accommodations and modifications are met and adjust my lessons accordingly.
Student Support – I make myself available for additional support in math topics before school, after
school, and at break time during the school day.
Professional Growth – I have to modify my vocabulary and language and learn a new curriculum in
England. I make sure to follow professional expectations and follow the British values at school. Teaching in
England has helped me grow as a teacher as to learn new styles of teaching, adjust to a different school structure,
and become more culturally aware.

• Teaching Experience Includes:
Learning Environment – I strive on creating a non-threatening learning environment by establishing
respectful relationships and positive rapport with every student, develop solid classroom procedures, utilize the
Common Core practice standards, and recognize individual learning needs require the implementation of various
teaching modalities connected to real life experiences as much as possible. I had the opportunity to utilize a
variety of technology such as iPads and Chromebooks to enhance the learning environment.
Student Engagement – I practice thorough lesson planning to ensure students are active learners from bell
to bell. From the warm up activity, questioning strategies, problem solving, to the exit slip, promote high levels
of energy, thinking, and participation from all students.
At Risk Population – Hawthorn’s student body is 30.5% low income, with many English Language
Learners. I am responsible for teaching and differentiating for ELL students that speak a variety of languages. I
enjoy working with students from various cultures and socio-economic backgrounds with much gratification
when analyzing student progress.
Special Education/504 Plans – I have experience working with many special needs students throughout
the day in a regular classroom setting; Ensure all I.E.P. and 504 accommodations are followed and regularly
communicate with case manager; Adjust lessons and instructions accordingly and participant at I.E.P. and 504
meetings.
Student Support – I offer before and after school math support for current and past students; Strive on
building positive relations with each student to foster a caring and productive culture in the classroom; Utilize
Google Classroom for constant communication with students.
Professional Growth – I complete continuous teacher development through collaboration with teachers
and administrators, reading professional books and journals, attending workshops to improve knowledge and
instruction, networking with teachers to generate ideas and best practices for teaching, and completing a masters
degree in teaching and instructional strategies. I was a club sponsor of Math Team, Technology Club, girl’s
soccer head coach, and girl’s softball co-head coach.
Parent Communication – I prioritize on maintaining ongoing communication with parents; Maintained a
class website with updates, reminders, and weekly agendas; Utilize Remind 101 with parents who want to receive
reminders/notifications.

independent learning activities, and competitive learning activities to maintain engagement and meaningful
learning; Promoted inquiry based learning and project-based learning.
At Risk Population – I was responsible for teaching the lowest level of math offered at the Smiley
Campus (Grades 10-12) for students who have experienced challenges in the area of mathematics and require a
heightened level of motivational strategies, consistent student management, and exposure to delivering instruction
in a variety of ways.
Special Education/504 Plans – I worked with 32 special needs students throughout the day in a regular
classroom setting where I worked closely with the case manager to follow all accommodations and modifications
for students.
Student Support – I maintained a class website which included power points and notes for each lesson;
Utilized Remind 101 with students; Offered before and after school math support; Strove on building positive
relations with each student to foster a caring and productive culture in the classroom.
Professional Growth – I attended many professional development workshops and had continuous
development through collaborating with teachers and administrators at department meetings. I was the club
sponsor if Odyssey of the Mind and was the girl’s soccer Assistant Varsity Coach.
Parent Communication – I created a parent email group for weekly notifications for assignments,
upcoming due dates, and encouraging home/school connections.
