A Final Word on Passion

Passion. What is passion?

Cambridge Dictionary defines passion as “a very powerful feeling, for example of sexual attraction, love, hate,
anger, or other emotion”. In the Academe, passion definitely matters because it motivates and inspires the
teachers. Passion can make or break the teacher’s performance, helping them to improve their teaching.
Therefore, passion leads to creativity. Passionate teachers are committed and dedicated to teaching, thus, a
good education environment is the outcome of their commitment and dedication to the craft.

MY ENABLERS OF PASSION

1. Discuss your own enablers of passion (refer to the mind map you previously created). Explain each enabler
you identified and how this relates to your passion as a teacher.

• FAMILY – Everyone probably said family. Well, me too! I believe family is the primary enabler, the fuel that
keeps you going day by day. I want to provide for my family, and of course, to save up for myself as well.
• EXPERIENCES – They say that experience is the best teacher. I believe that it is also the best enabler. Be it bad
experiences, good experiences – you learn, right? They give you the chance to grow. It is really up to you
whether you use these experiences to improve yourself or not.
• GIVING BACK – I want to give back. Not only to my family, but to the teachers that have helped be become
who I am today. I will not be who I am today if not for them.
• SELF – IMPROVEMENT – Lastly, I consider self – improvement as my enabler. I believe all things that I have
mentioned earlier boils down to this. Everything I do is for myself and my improvement as an educator. I do not
consider myself a great teacher, I really have so much more to learn.
Overall, the combination of these factors has truly enabled me to become the educator that I am today.
