New IBM Verse replaces Traveler for Mail, Calendar, People and To Do with social collaboration

platform. Please download IBM Verse and IBM Connections from Playstore. For configuration details,
refer your mail.

IBM Verse App


ONGC has deployed Traveler 9 Server on its premises. It enables users to have quick access to Mail,
Calendar, People and To Do from a wide range of mobile devices or tablets with greater ease while they
are on the move. It keeps on syncing emails and other related data from the email server thus keeping
users updated about any new emails using push mail notification feature. Traveler client has been
upgraded to its new version IBM VERSE which comes with new and improved features for the users.

 All the widgets can be found i.e. Mail, Calendar, People and To Do on to a single screen.
 New improved corporate directory to find individuals and/or groups by Name/CPF.
 Enables users to call other user directly from within the app and to look for various emails
received from the users in a thread view.
 Provides facility of integrating user information directly on to the phone contact.
 Enabling users to keep a track of important personal/business tasks using To-do list.
 Provides a calendar helping to ensure that deadlines or meetings are not missed.

For Apple iOS, the IBM Verse app is available on the Apple iTunes AppStore (one app for both device
types: iPhone and iPad). The users already using existing traveler profile configured on iOS as well as the
users who have not been using traveler for iOS can go directly to the AppStore and download the new
IBM Verse App. For Android users, the IBM Verse app is available on Google Play (one app for both
phone and tablet). The users already using traveler app on android can go directly to the playstore and
update their existing app, which will update the existing traveler app to the new IBM Verse app. The
users who have not been using traveler app can directly download and install IBM Verse app from Play
Store.

Installation of IBM Verse App

For android users

 Search for IBM Verse application on Google Play store and install the application.
 After installation, run the application. Click on accept license agreement option. Users will be
prompted to connect to either company’s server or IBM Connection cloud. Select my company’s
server on the prompted window.

 A window will appear asking for server name, username and password. Kindly provide the
following information in the space provided
Server name: https://mobilemail2.ongc.co.in
User’s name: User’s CPF Number
Password: Webmail Password

 After filling the necessary details click on login. Another window will open for activation of
device administrator. Click on activate and then check all available options and then click finish.
 After doing so, Verse will start syncing the data from the mail server. It will take some time and
after syncing the data, dashboard will appear having all the widgets i.e Mail, Calendar, People
and To do on the single screen.

MAIL
 Click on Mail to check all the mails in the inbox. Click on the highlighted option to navigate
through other options available in mail.

 Click on + sign available at the bottom of the screen for composing new mail. Fill in the subject
and recipient of the mail and then click on arrow shown on the top corner to send the mail.
CALENDAR
 Click on Calendar option from Verse Dashboard to go to calendar menu. It will list out all the
events entered by the user for that day. Click on the highlighted option to make new event.
 Fill out the necessary details like event type from the drop down menu.

 User can also fill other details such as start date, end date,subject, location of event along with
the attendees. On adding any attendees to the event list, an email will be sent to the attendee
to respond to the invitation. Then click on the highlighted option to save an event.

PEOPLE
 Click on People option from the Verse dashboard for directory search. Type the CPF no or the
name of the user in the search space and click on enter. Entire information about the user will
be displayed. Upon clicking the highlighted option at the bottom of the screen the user
information will be imported into the phone contact directly.
 Click on the Message tab adjacent to information tab to see all the mails sent from that user in a
thread view.
 Searched user can be called directly from within the app by clicking on call icon displayed
against the user’s phone number.

TO-DO
 Click on To do option from Verse dashboard. It will list all the tasks against particular date. Click
on + icon to add any task in To-do list. Fill the required details such as start date, due date,
priority option and then click on highlighted icon to save a task. An alarm can also be set for
reminder purpose.
IBM Connections App
ONGC has its own enterprise wide collaborative platform myspace.ongc.co.in for all users. It provides file
sharing, communities, forums, profiles, blogs, activities and wikis. It enables users to collaborate
regardless of the user experience - web, desktop, or mobile.

Few of the major features of myspace are:

Profiles - A person's profile typically contains the details of the user - primarily used to find people in the
organization.

Communities - a collaborative space for people with common interests to work together with an included
discussion forum space.

Blogs - a blogging service for groups and individuals.

Activities - a task management tool for groups of people to work together/collaborate on a specific project
or task.

Files - a content library for storing, sharing and revision management of files.

Wikis - a Wiki system for publishing and editing content - Wiki members can edit or comment on the
pages, or add their own pages.

Forums - Forums is used to start discussions about a specific topic or debate solutions to shared problems
-where people can ask questions, share their experiences, and discuss topics of common interest.

A mobile app providing all the features of Myspace collaborative platform can be downloaded from
Google play store (for android) and Apple iTunes AppStore (for Apple iOS) under the name of IBM
Connections.

Installation of IBM Connections App

For android users

 Search for IBM Connections in Google playstore and install it.

 Run the app after installation and accept the license agreement by clicking on I agree. Select
connection to my company server on next window prompt.
 On connecting to company server, a window will prompt for details of the server and credentials.
Kindly fill the following details in the space provided.
Nick name: any customized name of your choice
Server URL: https://myspace.ongc.co.in
Username: CPF number
Password: webmail password
After filling the details given above, click on login.

 On connecting with server user will be presented with the following window. Click on the
navigation drawer to navigate the various features.
 Click on profiles and then click on Pen icon to update your existing details and to change your
profile picture. Press for a second on the image icon and kindly scroll through the device for a
picture to upload as your profile pic.

 Again click on navigation drawer and click on communities to scroll through your communities.

 In the same way, user can navigate through public files as well as the files shared by them. User
can upload new files using the + icon provided at the bottom of the screen.
IBM Verse – IBM Connections Integration
 Users can directly connect to IBM Connections app from within the IBM Verse app. It requires
both IBM Verse and IBM Connections mobile apps to be preinstalled and configured on the
mobile device. Search for any user in the People widget available on the Verse dashboard.
Details of the user will be displayed. Click on the highlighted option as in the figure below. User
will be navigated to Connections App.

 Swipe across the window to navigate through user’s blogs, communities and wikis.
