Overview
The Converged Wireless System (CWS) CWS-2050 is the latest models in the
CWS-2000 series (2x20W). CWS is a software-defined, multi-technology, multi-
CWS-2050 carrier base station product family that integrates baseband, radio, filter/power
amplifier, edge aggregation, and backhaul router into a single compact form factor
device. It supports 3G and 4G in the same form factor and band is indicated in the

CWS-2050-x is auto-configured and managed by the HNG. This allow the CWS to

support multiple spectrum. SON on the HNG actively manages and monitors CWS’. This ensures
sectors that they are not disruptive to the rest of the Macro network, that proper power
control is maintained between systems and guarantees other users in the same
geographical area are not adversely affected. This improves the overall network
performance towards a higher customer QoE (Quality of Experience).
The CWS supports 3G/UMTS and 4G/LTE resulting in fewer sites due to the support of multiple
technologies/dual carrier capabilities on the same hardware, which helps drive the overall deployment costs
down. This also provides carriers with a migration path while they deploy VoLTE, enabling a Circuit
Wi-Fi can be supported via any Wi-Fi AP connected via PoE connector.
The CWS hardware connectors allow for different backhaul input (fixed, Ethernet, satellite, wireless).
CWS backhaul capabilities can be enhanced with wireless mesh by simply connecting a wireless mesh
backhaul module (BHM) via a standard RJ45/Ethernet interface/Ethernet cable. Multiple CWS’ can daisy
chain to each other to form a mesh cluster which eliminates the need/cost for other types of backhaul.
BHM-201 has two radios (to support multiple mesh networks, or a mesh network plus an LTE-backhaul
connection) and external N-type connectors to allow mobile operators to choose their preferred antennas.
The mesh radio supports all 5GHz bands commonly used in the US, Europe, and Asia and the maximum
outdoor EIRP for each region.
BHM
• 3G, 4G/LTE
• Flexible backhaul input: Fiber, Ethernet, LTE, 3G, satellite, wireless mesh
• Wireless backhaul via a backhaul module for multi-point-to-multi-point wireless mesh
• 3GPP compliant across all components
• 3GPP compliant “Plug-n- Play” security
• SON-based interference mitigation and power adjustments
• Carrier-grade hardware
• Low power consumption to deliver OPEX savings
• Software-enabled remote diagnostic to detect, monitor, and alarm
• Radio configurations deployment flexibility
• Support of any Wi-Fi AP, external cameras or other devices via PoE connector
• AISG 2.0 compliant
• Covers the majority of cellular 3G and 4G bands ensuring that there is a solution available for
any outdoor deployment situation
• Overall TCO reduction:
o Significant reduction in OPEX/maintenance costs:
▪ Lower power consumption
▪ Lower wind load and volume, no cabinet underneath reduce any site rental fees
on the tower or on the ground
o Reduces planning challenges/site acquisition requirements and time to acquire a site
o Low skill labor and easy to install as HetNet Gateway manages the configuration
o Reduces impact of equipment on building or a pole
o No cabinet, no cooling required
o Increases deployability
• Compatible with any type of antenna (omni, panel, multi-band)
