This solution provides a baseline P&L and Balance Sheet planning solution in SAP Business Planning and Consolidation
including:
 Best practice data model based on the structures that exist in the SAP GL
 Best practice data integration process that allows you to pull data from SAP G/L systems
 Best practice reports and input forms that leverage the relationships that exist in the SAP GL
With a pre-delivered model that is ready to connect to SAP G/L-based structures, you realize immediate value for your
GL financial planning.

1.2 What is a Rapid-Deployment Solution?


A rapid-deployment solution is an offering of software, preconfigured content, along with predefined implementation
services. The underlying software is SAP Business Planning and Consolidation, version for SAP NetWeaver.
The preconfigured content of the scope for General Ledger (G/L) Financial Planning includes:
 A financial planning model directly derived from SAP G/L-based data structures
 Preconfigured data integration packages
 Baseline planning reporting, including trend, comparison, and reconciliation reports
 Baseline planning input forms, including cost center, profit center, and balance sheet input forms
The service offering standardizes the deployment service. The service provider implements the content as-is using the
customers' own master and transaction data. The standardized service does not include customer-specific
customization.

1.3 How Do I Use a Rapid-Deployment Solution?


The General Ledger (G/L) Financial Planning enables end-to-end planning for the planning process. The preconfigured
content introduces a starting point for creating plans and analytics required for a typical P&L and balance sheet
planning process. The standardized service offering helps customers achieve a faster time to value, as well as reduce
deployment risk.
The solution delivers a best practice SAP G/L-based P&L and balance sheet cube design by having the common
structures modeled in SAP G/L reflected in the SAP Business Planning and Consolidation solution. Key dimension and
proposed names in for those dimensions are maintained. Key master data structures and the number and type of
master data are mapped. Basic P&L and balance sheet structure and best practice reporting are processed in the
solution.
The solution delivers SAP G/L to SAP Business Planning and Consolidation data integration packages to integrate
actual SAP G/L-based P&L and balance sheet master and transaction data into the best practice SAP Business Planning
and Consolidation cube, including:
 Mapping the SAP G/L key-figure-based models to the SAP Business Planning and Consolidation account-based
model.
 Updating SAP Business Planning and Consolidation master data tables with SAP-based content
 Transforming and converting data between SAP G/L systems and SAP Business Planning and Consolidation
 Mapping local reporting currency in SAP G/L systems to the SAP Business Planning and Consolidation Currency
dimension
 Mapping Trading partner in SAP G/L systems to the SAP Business Planning and Consolidation Intercompany
dimension
 Method to reconcile the SAP Business Planning and Consolidation Actual data to SAP G/L systems

SAP Business Planning and Consolidation, version for SAP NetWeaver includes standard transaction and
master load packages. The rapid-deployment solution delivers customized transaction (e.g. Load G/L from
SAP S/4HANA Cloud) and master data load packages (e.g. Load Cost Center Table) as part of the solution.

1.5 About this Business Process Document


This business process document explains how to use the G/L Financial Planning for the planning business process. This
document is specific to the features of the General Ledger (G/L) Financial Planning. It assumes familiarity with general
business planning and consolidation features and functions as well as standard P&L and balance sheet processes and
terminology.
Read through this entire guide to become familiar with the steps and processes involved.
The solution allows the customer to analyze their Actual P&L and balance sheet, compare it to SAP-based Actuals, and
collect a P&L and balance sheet forecast or plan. The process requires that the Actual P&L and balance sheet are
transferred out of SAP G/L and into SAP Business Planning and Consolidation, allowing planning of the P&L and
balance sheet to compare with Actual.
The cycle for the solution takes place monthly and involves 3 key process steps each cycle:
1. Load Actuals from the source systems
2. Compare Plan and Forecasts with Actuals
3. Plan and Forecast

To succeed, the solution relies on the combination of standard elements of the SAP Business Planning and
Consolidation, version for SAP NetWeaver including:
 Standard business content (Info Provider) for SAP G/L
 The native functionalities of SAP Business Planning and Consolidation to load data using Data Manager
 A dedicated Planning application in a new environment called PLANNING_SHELL, comprised of common
dimensions, templates, and standard business rules, for example foreign currency conversion.
