ENGINEERING MECHANICS

FIRST YEAR ENGINEERING

Objective. This subject is designed to know the Static and Dynamic methods of solving the problems
related to engineering. It includes Analysis problem like Resultant of coplanar force system, Equilibrium
of force system, Analysis of structures and Friction, Rectilinear motion of particles, Curvilinear motion of
particles, Work Energy and impulse momentum principle for particle etc.
Students will be able to
1 To impart knowledge about force systems and methods to determine resultant centroid and
moment of inertia
2 To teach methods to calculate force of friction
3 To impart knowledge to determine reaction of beams, calculate member forces in trusses, cables
and frames using principles of equilibrium
4 To teach space force systems
5 To train students to solve problems related to particle mechanics using principles of kinematics,
kinetics and work power energy
