Ashok Leyland meets BS-VI emission norms

BS-VI emission norms.
It met the BS-VI emission norms across the full range of heavy-duty trucks – Gross Vehicle Weight
(GVW) 16.2 tonnes and above.

Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI).
India to launch deep sea research project
India will launch ‘Samudrayaan’ project in 2021-22.
The project proposes to send a submersible vehicle with three persons to a depth of about 6000
metres to carry out deep underwater studies.

The vehicle is capable of crawling on the sea bed at a depth of six-kilometre for 72 hours.

World Bank to fund tourism projects in UP
World Bank will fund ‘pro-poor tourism’ (PPT) development projects worth more than $57 million in top
tourist hotspots of Agra and Braj-Mathura regions in Uttar Pradesh.
While the World Bank will incur 70% of the project cost, the remaining 30% will be borne by the UP
government.
Pro-poor tourism is a holistic tourism concept aimed at poverty alleviation.

Rs 125 crore allotted to IIT-Kharagpur
IIT Kharagpur has been selected for setting up a Sophisticated Analytical and Technical Help Institute
(SATHI), a Department of Science and Technology initiative of the Centre, for which Rs 125 crore has
been earmarked over a period of three years.
The primary objective of the SATHI will be to extend help to the academic institutes in the
neighbouring regions.

taking place even in far- ung villages by common people but also help them verify the received
information.
Govt will prepare master plan for tigers
Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar said that the central government will prepare a master
plan for tigers at high altitudes.
He said this after releasing a report which revealed that tigers have been found in high altitude regions.
The report, prepared by the Global Tiger Forum (GTF), provides the action strategy for a high altitude
tiger master plan.
Food ministry to ban single-use plastic
Food and Consumer Affairs Ministry has decided to ban single-use plastic in its various departments
as well as the public sector units under its administration from September 15.

The aim of the agreement is to increase access to credit for micro, small and medium enterprises.

CBDT signs 26 advance pricing agreements
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has signed 26 advance pricing agreements (APAs) in the
April-August period.
The total APAs entered into by the board now stands at 297, which includes 32 bilateral APAs.
APAs were introduced to provide tax certainty to those multinational corporations that agree to certain
principles relating to the valuation of their cross-border transactions.
FDI grows to $16.33 bn in Q1 FY20
According to government data, Foreign direct investment into India grew by 28% to $16.33 billion
during the rst quarter of the current scal.
The in ow of foreign direct investment (FDI) during April-June of 2018-19 stood at 12.75 billion.

The government will also prepare a nal report on the recommendations of the U K Sinha committee.
‘Oscar Of Science’ Award announced
The team from the Event Horizon Telescope Collaboration project won the ‘Breakthrough Prize in
Fundamental Physics’ – an award considered the ‘Oscars of Science’.
The team won a prize of $3 million for their work.
The Event Horizon Telescope Collaboration project published the rst image of a supermassive black
