1
SCIENCE 5
First Quarter A.Y. 2019-2020

Date: June 20 & 24, 2019

I. OBJECTIVES Time Frame: (50 minutes/ meetings)
At the end of the lesson, learner is expected to:
1. recall the different scientific process skills;
2. demonstrate science concepts, process skills and exhibit scientific attitudes;
COGNITIVE 3. describe the components of a scientific investigation and performs the correct
sequence through simple experimentation; and
4. name various laboratory equipment.
AFFECTIVE
1. enumerate the safety rules in the laboratory.

PSYCHOMOTOR 1. demonstrate the use of the tools in the laboratory.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

SCIENCE PROCESS SKILLS
Review Science Process Skill: Observing with tools
III. VALUES INTEGRATION:
Exhibit scientific literacy by preparing learners to make accurate judgments and decisions in
applying scientific knowledge

IV. READING INTEGRATION:

Manipulate skillfully the speech sounds through simple, meaningful and guided conversations
in the class

V. MATERIALS:
Video, strips of paper, white board and marker
VI. DAILY ROUTINE
1. Opening Prayer
2. Checking of Attendance
3. Cleanliness of the classroom
VII. MOTIVATIONAL BEGINNING
Flash a puzzle picture of a Science Laboratory
Ask the pupils to guess what the puzzle is. When the correct answer is raised, ask them who
wanted to go to the laboratory.
VIII. LESSON PROPER
DAY 1
Pre-assessment
Ask the class about the things they can see in the Science Laboratory. Instruct them to list them
in the table below.

Things in a Science Laboratory

After the listing, instruct them to classify the things accordingly.

Materials for Materials for observing

Materials for heating
measuring small particles
Process the activity in pre-assessment. Ask the pupils the ff:
1. What did you do to list the things in a Science Laboratory?
2. How did to you classify the things in a Science Laboratory?
3. How do you call the skills you use to accomplish the activity?
If no one got the correct answer in number 3, let the pupils watch a video clip on Science
Process Skills. Review each science process skills by asking the pupils to share about it.

INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITY:
Identify what Science Process Skill should be used to accomplish the following tasks.

_________1. Describe the plants in POT A and B.

_________2. Separate the solid mixtures in the bowl.
_________3. Put the exact amount of ingredients in the pan.
_________4. Tell what will happen if the rain doesn’t stop for 5 days.
_________5. Know if a 5 x 5 x 3 inches magnet can hold a metal weighing 3 kilos.

Note: Before the class ends tell them that they are going to visit the Science Laboratory tomorrow.
DAY 2
Before the class go to the Science Laboratory, check their assignments by asking the pupils
to share them with the class (about do’s and don’ts in a Science Laboratory). After that, instruct
the class to watch a video clip about the different observing tools in the Science Laboratory.
GROUP ACTIVITY

 The class will be divided into 4 Groups this will be their official group for the 1st Quarter.
 In the Science Laboratory, laboratory tools will be presented.
 The learners will be given chance to see the plant and animal cell using the microscope.
 The group will be asked to draw their observations on the plant and animal cell and discuss
the difference between the two.
 Ask the following questions to process the activity:
1. How are able to describe and draw the animal and plant cell?
2. How do you distinguish the difference or similarities of the sample cells?
3. What science process skills did you use?
4. Why are these skills important?
5. How would you apply these skills in daily life activities?
IX. SYNTHESIS:
3-2-1
Give 3 – Science Tools used in observing
2 – Do’s or Don’ts inside a Science Laboratory
1 – Topic in Science you want to study
X. ASSESSMENT
A. Pre-assessment C. Individual Activity (seatwork)
B. Science Activity
XI. ASSIGNMENT:
Assignment will be given on Day 1
Read articles about 2 do’s and don’ts in a Science Laboratory. Instruct them to list them in
their Science notebook.
