SIG SAUER ELITE PERFORMANCE AMMUNITION 300BLK SBR

SIG’s objective was to produce and eco-friendly

round capable of delivering a high degree of
terminal effectiveness when fired from a barrel
shorter than 9 inches.

In the 1990’s J.D. Jones, founder and C.E.O. of

performance in a very short barrel rifle was a
task taken by Sig Sauer who introduced its 300

One of the challenges I faced in putting this

review together was the availability of a 6 ¾ in.
barrel. The closest, I was able to get locally was
a 7 ½ inch barrel. Therefore, it’s reasonable to
expect a higher muzzle velocity.

I fired 10 rounds in the following series but

ended up deleting a shot that measured at over

So, what does the added 0.07 inches mean? 1 1996 ft/s
First and foremost, how well does the round fit
2 2015 ft/s
in the magazine. Will the added length keep the
round from feeding consistently and reliably? In 3 2026 ft/s
this review, I did not experience a single failure
to feed or difficulty in loading a magazine. 4 2037 ft/s

I did not pull a bullet to physically measure the 5 2035 ft/s

bullet length, so it’s certainly possible that the
6 2044 ft/s
added 0.07 in. comes from a shallower seating
depth, but it’s unlikely. The most probable 7 2035 ft/s
reason for the added length is a slightly longer
bullet. If that in fact is the case, SIG’s bullet will 8 2040 ft/s
have a higher ballistic coefficient (BC), and
9 2016 ft/s
bullets with higher BCs are more efficient in
flight and flatter shooting.

Over the 60 rounds fired, there was no obvious

indication of stringing, all shots grouped nicely.
There were no failures to chamber, extract or
eject.
