Description

The American National Standards Institute is a

private non-profit organization that oversees the
development of voluntary consensus standards for
products, services, processes, systems, and
personnel in the United States.

A bill of materials or product structure is a list of the

raw materials, sub-assemblies, intermediate
assemblies, sub-components, parts, and the
quantities of each needed to manufacture an end
product. A BOM may be used for communication
between manufacturing partners or confined to a
single manufacturing plant

Isometrics are usually drawn from information

found on a plan and elevation views. The symbols
that represent fittings, Valves and flanges are
modified to adapt to the isometric grid.
Usually, piping isometrics are drawn on preprinted
paper, with lines of equilateral triangles form of 60°.

Liquid-Level Controller is a device used for

monitoring and comparing the level of liquid with a
set value.

Material take off (MTO) is a term used in

engineering and construction, and refers to a list of
materials with quantities and types (such as specific
grades ofsteel) that are required to build a designed
structure or item. This list is generated by analysis of
a blueprint or other design document.
Nominal Pipe Size is a North American set of
standard sizes for pipes used for high or low
pressures and temperatures. "Nominal" refers to
pipe in non-specific terms and identifies the
diameter of the hole with a non-dimensional
number.

A piping and instrumentation diagram is a detailed

diagram in the process industry which shows the
piping and vessels in the process flow, together with
the instrumentation and control devices.

A purchase order is a commercial document and

first official offer issued by a buyer to a seller
indicating types, quantities, and agreed prices for
products or services.

A pipe support or pipe hanger is a designed element

that transfer the load from a pipe to the supporting
structures. The load includes the weight of the pipe
proper, the content that the pipe carries, all the pipe
fittings attached to pipe, and the pipe covering such
as insulation.

The Piping Specification (abbreviated: Pipe Spec) is

a document prepared during the design phase of
any project. It provides the appropriate
selection, specificationand material grade
of pipe and piping components for a given service.
A battery limit is a defined boundary between two
areas of responsibility, which may be physical (e.g. a
flange on a pipe); or represented by a map
coordinate; or some other means (for example a
point in time)
